Been taking hydroxy for 5 days now and the sickness seems to be getting worse. Anyone else suffered many side effects?

I started taking it inNovember, only lasted 2 weeks, the side effects were awful. Hot and cold sweats, dizzy, feeling sick, raging headache, 2 different docs tried to tell me I had a virus but I knew it wasn't that., tried again a month later with same results. Can't take leflunomide or sulfasalazine can just about tolerate mtx so am being considered for anti-TNF treatment but not sure about that either. Sorry I can't be more positive but I know a lot of people on here are on it with no problems, so perhaps for you it will just be a case of getting used to it. Good luck

For what it's worth, Traluvie, I've been taking them for years with no problems but I do have to take Lansoprazole for my stomach due to years of anti-inflammatories. Maybe that helps.
If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

It was awful for me, I fainted on it but I am on other meds from another condition, so we think they interacted. But keep hanging on in there and the initial side-effects may pass. It will take a while but it may very well pass. So, try not to worry too much for now. ;) Make sure you're not taking it on an empty stomach and have a BIG drink when you take it.

All the best of luck! Hope it's a good drug for you. :)

I have OA quite badly and my Specialist put my on Hydroxychloroquine last September, At first they made me feel sick and dizzy but I persevered and now I'm almost Ok with them, I get diahorrea occasionally but I take loratidine (Immodium) when I get that and it keeps it under control. It works for me
Hope u will feel better soon

Hi Tracy don't know if this will help you but I have found if I take my hydroxy half way through my meals I don't feel so sick.

    Tracy

When I first started taking them I used to get a bit of the two-bob-bits, but I take lanzoprazole 30 like you and started by only taking One a day and I sandwiched it into the middle of my meal. ONce that was ok and i tolerated that I added another tablet.

    This might be an idea.

Of course it is so very hard to see what is causing what when you are ill anyway, but hot and cold and tiredness are also a symptom of inflamatory arthritis.

Good luck and persevere if you can - this is a medication with the least side effects which is why they try us on it or sufa first.

    Love

    Toni xx
