Skegness

Hi Folks,

Not been on for a while - after a couple of hectic weeks work wise I decided that I would take youngest daughter to Butlins for the weekend.

Was telling my work colleagues that I was going and one of the Director's was earholing "Are you bring sponsored to go there or did you lose a bet?" I told him in no uncertain terms he was a snob!!

So last friday myself and youngest went to Skeggy. What a terrible journey - it seemed to take forever but we eventually got there.

What a surprise we had - we had gone to Butlins Minehead a couple of years ago and enjoyed it but this one was absolutely fantastic. Everything was very high class! The food was first class (I 'forgot' the diet for a couple of days) all the areas were very clean, the entertainment was - well entertaining and the staff were so helpful. There was a group trip with lots of people in wheelchairs of all ages. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and accommodating.

So if any of you want a little weekend away and have kids that need entertaining then I would happily recommend it.

The only problem I had was the weather - whoever said Skegness is so bracing must have thought the Arctic was a bit chilly!! And unfortunately even Sir Billy Butlin couldn't control that.

Kate x

    Hi Kate

    Glad you enjoyed yourselves

When my kids were a little younger we used to regularly go to Bu*lins - for them! they loved it and i have many happy memories of them there.

That one at skeggy is a bit of a flagship for the new style Bu*lins I think - glad to hear it's looking good....was it the hotel you stayed in?

    Love

Skegness scooter rally 1982 was probably my most memorable ever Kate!2 days to get there, had to sleep in an orchard one night, ran out of petrol, broke down, got lost in fog, some blokes in a car picked us up and drove us all the way home from Essex to Eastbourne cos the scooter broke down.

Glad you had a great time.

Hi.. We love to take our GC to Skegness butlins....and Skegness itself is lovely and flat.
You wouldnt have seen much of the beach if it was cold, but its not to be missed, and its so clean.

I ist such a lovely walk from chapel to skeggy along the seafront, quite a distance but lots of places to sit, rest and watch the world go by.. Don't think I'd make it at the minute, but would give it a bloody good go.. Lol
We had a static in skeggy for just under ten years.. Family have had one there for many many years... All on the same site too.
    Great place.

    Hi Toni,

We actually stayed in one of the 'silver' rooms and had 'silver' standard dining so we weren't in one of the hotels but the room was as good as a hotel room.

Hope you and yours are ok

    Love kate xx

I think there is an event horizon of a black hole around that part of the world as we took our nipper up there to go and stay at a horse riding centre for a week, and it also took forever to get there how odd is that?, it felt like we were driving to the moon!.

    Hi Toni,

This is the condensed version. A lot more happened but didn't want to bore you all with the details!
