Not sure if this is related to my AS or not but my feet after an hour or two of walking about in my job have started to hurt like mad, Its a constant ache on the balls and toes with my big toe having stabbing pains.
Anyone else suffer like this or am I just having tired feet and its nothing arthritus related?

Don't know anything about A.S Phill but I know my feel kill me and lock up after standing up for half hour or so. By the end of the day when I finally go to bed they take a few hours to recover during the evening/ night meaning I cannot stand on them at all to go to the loo or help the kids. The pain is awful.
I have R.A but OA in my left ankle which is due a fusion soon(no date yet)but both ankles hurr. I am sure yours is arthritis related and you need to rest them throughout the day.

I can empathise: my feet have flattened over the years and they hurt all the time now, all the toes and all the tendons, luckily it's only a dull throb, no shooting pains or anything. You might benefit perhaps from more supportive footwear or good insoles, resting whenever you can - even perhaps using a stick, if that is possible. What do you do? DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Sorry don't know anything about AS I have RA. I would say your painful feet are probably arthritis related.
Last year I was told by my rhumatologist I have tarsal tunnel in my foot.
Which most of the time means it feels a bit dead, numb and a bit like pins and needles.
At the moment however it feels like the ball of my foot and toes are clamped in a vice. I also get a bright red patch on the top of my foot just below the toes. I have started a thread on this hoping for some advise, and have had some good advise which I am going to try.I do get very painful soles in both feet sometimes feels like I've walked miles even when I havn't (not that I could anyway lol!) I have orthotic insoles which do help a bit and my left ankle was replaced in 2002 which is great. I had the metatarsal heads removed on both my feet about 24 years ago and I think that has caused these other problems.
I have thought about getting a wax bath I thought this might help.0 -
might be worth seeing if a local beauty salon does parafin wax foot treatments... I have my own stuff to use as used to be a therapist myself and can certainly recommend them..
have seen them for sale here http://www.amazon.co.uk/Homedics-31262006301-ParaSpa-Deluxe/dp/B00005RFPV/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1299351520&sr=8-2
if anyone wants to know more about this kind of home treatment i am willing to share my knowledge, please PM me.

My feet also get very painful if I walk any distance. It feels as if I am walking on cobble stones or with marbles in my shoes. Needless to say, thats the end of my walk for a while.
