I went to the Doctors on Monday to recieve my results and the xray show that I have Sacroiliitis of both hips, my left hip also has lacerations and a possible bone island.

I have now been referred to a rheumatologist.

Has anyone else got this or heard of it, i did ask the doctor if that meant i had arthur in my hips and he said yes.

hi, I have heard of this - I have had bloods and xrays and am now awaiting an MRI in 2 weeks as my rheumatologist thinks probable ankylosing spondylitis however my physio did mention that sacralilitits could be an option too. I googled it and found a good physio site with some diagrams which explained it well. sorry I cant remember which one it was as I looked at quite a few. I do remember it was to do with the sacral illiac joints. I hope you get answers and an appointment soon.

    Thanks everyone for the replys.

Spacey do you remember if it was linked with Arthritis, my Doctor said it was but he was quite vague.

Can I also ask what usually happens at a reumatology appointment, I am a bit of a coward when it comes to hospitals

What happens? Well at my appointments the rheumatologist askes me questions about what hurts, when and how much, my joints are prodded to see how much inflammation is present, she assesses my flexibility and reviews my blood test results or any other test results. She also asks me about the meds I take and what effect they are having - we both fall about laughing at that point.

If you can, BB, I recommend you take someone with you for moral support and to help you to remember all that is said. Also take a list of your symptoms and any questions you might have. Conversations rarely go the way one thinks they will and having a list does help to keep one on track. I wish you well and if you can, let us know when you are going so we can support you. DD

    Hi BB

So glad they have found out what is wrong for you - I am so glad you are to see a consultant now too.

You will be weighed and BP done (more bloods probably) and maybe a chest xray.

They examine you so tracky bottoms are good and take a history from you so i should write that down now.

He/she may order more tests or even start treatment straight away.

Always wise to take a partner or friend or family member along with you for support and also to speak up for you if you forget anything. They also seem to remember stuff i don't

    Love

Hi, sacroiliitis, is inflammation of the sacrum. It is linked to the spondlyarthrapathys ( sp lol), such as psoriatic arthritis. It can be very painful as the sacrum has holes in it, which the nerves pass through. I have had this in the past, and was totally unable to move without anti inflammatories!!

Make a list of any questions that you would like answered as you can forget things whilst in the appt.
