Hi Katie, I was just wondering how you were getting on. The waiting is awful, once you 'know' you can begin to deal with it.

    Take care

    hi all

sorry i've been out of touch for a few days - i'm absolutely overwhelmed by all your comments - honestly just read all of them and want to thank each and everyone of you for the concern - you brought a tear to my eye but for all the right reasons.

been feeling much the same but brighter in myself if that makes sense. My mum came to see me last weekend (she lives in wales) and it was lovely but she still said i'm taking far too many painkillers and i shouldn't be taking them everyday - i know she loves me but where's the support!!

still got 2 weeks to go before i go back to see doctor - decided to keep a pain diary so when i'm referred i'll have it all there instead of babbling on.

sending you all big hugs ((((((()))))))

Your mum is not living with the pain, you are. Possibly she does not have the health problems you do but even so what right does she have to tell you what you should be doing? You do what you need to do to get through the day - that is what matters, as long as you are not taking more than the daily recommendation you should be fine. Chin up girl, you are doing alright and you know where we are if you need a boost. DD

hi don't know if anyone is still listening but been back to doctors today and nothing showed up on my blood tests - thankfully - so its still only OA i have. the GP has referred me to rheumatology to see if they can do anything to help with the pain management. - i know i should be pleased but i've been upset all day. i've had a really bad couple of weeks with lots of pain and a headache which i just cant shift. i couldn't even speak to the GP today I just started crying -which honestly is not like me i'm always positive.

sorry for the moan and hope everyone is well.

    Katie

Hi Katie, constant pain really grind you down, it kind of wears away at you. Most of us are positive, but need an outlet to release our emotions. It is good that the gp saw how much it is affecting you.

Also the strain of waiting for the blood results won't have helped. Maybe you could ask for physio and a referral to the pain clinic as well. It may help.

    (((hugs))) we all understand.

    Hi Katie,

i echo Suzy and also am glad your being referred to a rumo cus not all of them effect your bloods. he might have some ideas on the pain control, mine did for the oa as well as the pa.

Pain clinic's can be really good and might well as Suzy says be worth ago at seeing.

hang in there cus we all do this at times but it will pass and with a bit of decent help via pain control and anti-inflammatories you could well start to have less pain, less stress and feel a lot better. Cris x

    Hi Katie,
Glad your blood results didn't show up anything and also glad you've been referred to a rhuemy. Please don't worry about crying. Don't know if you remember me telling you about the one doc I've not cried in front of? Well, guess what I did last week? Yep, bawled my eyes out. He didn't know what to do, thinking back, it was quite funny. No matter how much of a brave face you put on, the constant pain (and worrying-what else?) does eventually get to you.
    Take care,

Of course we are listening: I know you were very stressed about the results and thus put yourself under lots of extra pressure - luckily unnecessarily. I think it's very good news that you only have OA - believe you me you don't need any other dross on top of that, that's enough. So, it's time to sort out your pain management perhaps, some stronger dullers may be required and a referral to a pain clininc may not be a bad idea either. Let's hope someone can help with that.

My rheumatologist has never had much to say about pain relief, she prefers to leave that to the GP, I hope the one you see is a little more constructive on that front. I wish you well. DD

    hi DD, Suzy, magenta, cris

thanks all for the comments. feeling bit better at mo and trying to get my head straight again. DD believe it or not but GP has not offered any pain relief just paracetamol.

i'm off the my mum's in Wales at the weekend with hubby and kiddies so looking forward to the break think it will do me good.

thanks again for your support it really does help and hope you are all ok.

If paracetamol cuts the mustard then that's fine. Personally speaking I need summat with a little more clout, and if you do too then you have to stand up for yourself with the GP and firmly ask for something stronger. Not easy, I know, but you are the one living with this, not him. I wish you well. DD
