My little one got a skipping rope for christmas ,she took it to school and we found they are not allowed to play with them due to "Health and saftey"

i can remember some of the games i played as a child at school,British bulldog!skipping and double dutch, can anyone remember two ball? what games did you play at school and would they be allowed now!! i think theres too much health and safety!

murder ball..... As bad as it sounds...
Throw stones at a teacher... My second favourite...
Kog Og, you don't know if you have to ask, lol
And my all time favourite I used to play that I wouldn't be allowed to now.. Pretty sure it was against the rules then....
    Good old TRUANCY..

He-ball was more or less tag only you tagged the person by throwing a tennis ball at then lol health and saftey ?it was fine lol never did me any harm

40-40 is really hard to explain kind of like hide and seek only as the person found you they had to call 40 see you and then you had to race them back to base and get there first so you were free and you could free anyone else that had been found, then you could all hide again, sounds confusing but was great fun!

In the winter we used to make slides on the ice they were fast and long. If we had been really good our teacher used to let us have 10mins extra play time to play on them! Obviously in the good old days before H&S got in the way of living a good life

    hi all

Elastics - you jumped in and out and on them does anyone remember that - mum used to go mad because i would put the elastic round 2 dining room chairs and then start jumping in and out of the elastics! bonkers game x

sardines - bit like hide and seek but when you found the person you had to hide with them - still dont quite understand the rules to that one!!

Skipping - with about 4 ropes tied together and two girls either end turning it

Rounders - because none of us knew the rules of cricket (and some of us still don't)

I played elastics too!! I'd forgotten all about that!

Not a game but remember ........fight fight and everyone went charging down to the big scrap .............till the teachers steped in and broke it up and remember dodging the sawdust when some kid had been sick .....oh happy days

oh yes i can remember the sawdust whenever someone was sick always made it look worst somehow lol,can anyone remember the bottles of milk?you always tried to drink the cream off the top first, and it always tasted strange in the summer probably where it had been left outside in the heat!

i remember 40-40. we used to play chicken with darts

(and cars), with darts you had to throw them at your mates feet and you scored points for hitting there feet and double points if they moved out the way,

School milk, in winter it was always frozen and put on top of the big radiators to thaw - when we come to drink it, it was warm and horrid. In the summer it was always warm had a big thick cream bit on the top, Ugh, couldn't stomach it summer or winter - made me physically sick, and these experiences put me off drinking milk for life!

British bull dog, skipping, elastic, marbles , jacks, kiss chase, dodge ball (that would be with what ever ball we had.) Cow boys and Indians...(tie one child with skipping ropes to a tree then run off and leave them to try and get out...rarely did, football, rugby....probably more don't they don't come to mind at the moment.
Health and safety has a lot to answer for. The games we played did me no harm...i lived in a small village growing up and you had to learn to stand your ground. A lot of schools will not even let the kids throw snow balls at each other a playtimes...that is if they let them out. Its a shame really.

cops and robbers, whats the time mr wolf, brittish bulldogs (untill that got banned, so we called it sheddy instead and played regardless), elastics, skipping, Doctor doctor we need help (that one seems quite appropriate now acctually lol), tig, boys chase the girls (just a different take on kiss chase i guess), farmer wants a wife, duck duck goose, clap games (im quite impressed with how many i can remember all the word too)

oh and whats that film with luke skywalker in?? well my whole class used to play as characters from the film and "fight" and "shoot" eachother at playtime. I was always princess laya, because my boyfriend when i was 6 was popular and always got picked toplay luke.

Oh and pokemon cards, yo yo's, and beanie baby adventures... probably shows how young i am with those last 3 :)

Aww thats a shame you couldnt remember any to teach your little girl. Here are two i remember but they dont make very much sense :)

This one you start off slow and get faster when it gets to 3,6,9

"My mummy told me, if i was goodie, that she would buy me, a rubber dolly, my aunty told her, i kissed a soldier, now she wont buy me, a rubber dolly, 3,6,9, the goose drank wine, the monkey chewed tobbacco on the street car line, the line broke, the monkey got choked, and they all went to heven, in a little rowing boat, clap, clap!

Then this one is more complicated, you only do the traditional clap bit on the words that are repeted 3 times, on the rest of the words you cross your arms when touching your shoulders (left shoulder right hand etc) for the first word, then you uncross your arms and tounch your thighs (left hand left leg etc) for the second word, and for the third word, or second sylable of the second word you clap your hands. It gets quite speedy.

Miss Mary MAC MAC MAC, all dressed in BLACK BLACK BLACK, with silver BUTTONS BUTTONS BUTTONS, all down her BACK BACK BACK, she asked her MOTHER MOTHER MOTHER, for fiftey CENTS CENTS CENTS, to see the ELEPHANTS ELEPHANTS ELEPHANTS, jump over the FENCE FENCE FENCE, they jumped so HIGH HIGH HIGH, they touched the SKY SKY SKY, and didnt come BACK BACK BACK, till the 4th of JULY LY LY

haha reading these they sound absolutly insane, but i think the rest i know are equally as odd :)
