I read using the shapes of the words rather than reading every letter. This means that I can read more quickly. But I stumble occasionally over words of similar shape and I do spot spelling mistakes very easily because I used to check other peoples' work for accuracy.

Some read odd words and put together the gist of what is written. While it increases reading speed, you can miss out minor nuances of the text. Which is best is whatever you like, as there are no good or bad ways to read, as long as you are able to understand and absorb what you read. Using what you have read is more important than spelling, unless a misspelling completely alters the original meaning of the text.

The ease of using one the many freebie spell checkers now available online means that there is no longer any need for poor spelling.

It is a known fact that 98% of the population read by looking word. As long as the first and the last letter of the word are the same then it doesnt matter how the other letters are arranged we will still be able to read the word.

I speed read now because I had to do it for part of my job when I was working and I had to be quick at what I was doing. At first I was slow but then the more I done it the quicker I got.

Dnot fregot taht terhe is no crreoct way to raed. It mkeas snese no mtaetr waht.

Val its just my dyslexia, I skip read because I don't understand the word or because I dont think it really should be there.

I read every word and am a slow reader. When I trained as a secretary I was taught to proof read and now I can't do it any other way.

Spell checkers for our language are pointless unless one has good reading skills.

To bares went to the woulds four a picnic. They sore sum wonderful sites fore there picnic but chose won on a hill sew they could sea the view.

It sounds OK when read out loud. As for reading styles, I scan and Mr DD reads every word. He remembers what he has read, I don't. DD
