Problem with kids coming into garden

Hiya,
Need some advice here. 2wks ago, kids walking by my garden (live next to a lane) and started banging on my gate and fence-I ignored them. 2 days later, back again but started shouting obscene insults at me-I ignored them again. Last Tuesday, eating my dinner and could hear loud talking outside. Went to my kitchen and there's one of the kids (about 14) standing 2ft away from my window, hands in pocket and kicking my wee boys toys around garden. Other kid sitting on my fence! I went out and asked them to leave. They were really rude/cheeky/bl**dy annoying. Wouldn't leave. Eventually threatened them with police. They had put their football in my tree. I got it for them but still not wanting to leave.
Today, they were hanging about back of fence and my hubby caught them. They said they were looking for their ball but it wasn't there. They even tried to get in my garden, while we were both in the garden but my gate was locked. We called the police and they left. Police have said they can't do anything unless they've vandalised our property. Makes me so bleeding angry. Any advice?

Hi Delboy,
Gosh, that was a quick reply
I'm getting very stressed about this.
I have thought about putting in ruddy great big nails along my fence for 'hanging baskets'!
I just want to slap em one but then I'll be the one that gets into trouble.

Find out who they belong to and approach the parents if possible.....Also seek a damn good lock for gate...

I think perhaps your best bet is to contact the headteacher of the local comp - perhaps he could give an assembly on the subject of anti social behaviour - other than that get your camera / video recorder out and get evidence together and approach your council!

Keep a camera / video camera at hand and go out and take there photos preferably with flash (so try are quite clear you are taking photos) .... We had a problem with local kids in our old office they'd come inthe car park and throw stones at the office and car windows ... They stopped coming after one of the directors popped out with a camera ... We also informed their school who clamped down on them

Hi Magenta, you need to get back in touch with the police because they do have to do something there has been a new law where they give the parents of these kids a fixed penalty notice and if it continues the parents end up in court, dont go out with a camera as that will just make the little g*ts act up even more, just try to record as much evidence as you can and also contact cab as they can advice you on the current law,but the police have been in trouble with this recently as there has been at least 3 cases of suicide due to anti social behaviour hence the new laws, also your council if these kids are council tenants the parents will also get a letter informing them of thier childrens behaviour and if they dont do anything to curb it again the will be prosecuted,i wish you luck dont let these little s*ds get away with it and dont let the police shirk their duty!xxxxx0

oh dear magenta
I agree with delboy get some plastic strips for the top of your fence.
How frightening for you and so unfair. Approaching the parents I think would possibly be just as bad...they would also give you abuse no doubt.
Just a dam shame you and your oh can't give em a clip round the ear.
Get a camera and take photos.
As for the police not being able to do anything surely they could warn them or talk to their parents.
I am so sorry for you and I hope this problem stops,

Did you mention to the police you 'thought' one of them had a knife?????
I'm sure they would be more 'attentive' if they knew that......Rob0 -
in the good old days it would have been expected to give them a clip 'round lughole, then drag them by the throbbing lugs to the parents, who would in turn give them a slap...
Sadly the nicey nicey liberals have turned this country on it's head.. justice is no longer a friend of the victim, but instead throws it's arms around the cretinous scum and offers them a holiday and an x-box for their troubles...
I would beat the crap our of them..
Hope the police get off their lazy bums and do their jobs hun..
Insist on them doing something.
Best wishes.

I had problems similar a few years back but it was a drunken old lady! She made my life hell, council and police told me to keep a record of times what was said/done etc and note down any witnesses. It will take time to build up enough but note down anything no matter how small, be careful if your taking video or camera images and i know someone who did this and they got into trouble especially if theyre not on your property at the time. I have every sympathy for you and hope these little sXXS get fed up and leave you alone soon. May find if you just ignore them but keep your diary they will get fed up.
All the best

Oh Magenta I feel angry for you, it's not fair when your home and peace of mind are treated in this way.
My hubby puts thick black treacly grease on the top of our fence to stop intruders - though it sounds quite innocuous it is harmless, just they'll probably not like it on their hands and if they get it on their clothes they could be in trouble with their parents.
The problem with spikes, nails and carpet gripper on the top of your fence is that if they hurt themselves you could be liable - in this crazy world we live in.
Hope it gets sorted for you all.Love, Legs x

Legs,
thats a great idea of your Hubby, grease on the fence excellent!
They certainly wouldnt want it on their clothes.
Great Idea

Hi all,
Thanks for all your messages. The community police came to see me today and they were really helpful. Told me to call them anytime I see the kids, even if they aren't annoying me. They live a wee bit away from me and the area is 'suspect' to say the least so I won't be rushing to speak to their parents.
They suggested grease on fence and anti-theft paint. They told me not to put nails in fence (damn!) or anything else sharp.
I asked about taking photos. I'm allowed cctv in my garden (as if) but no to taking pics with camera. They said that people who've done that before have then had the parents making a complaint about strangers taking pics of their wee innocent children.
I'll let you know how things go.
Thanks,

I am sorry you are having problems.
I would grease my fence and put up "anti cat devices......" AS for the parents i would take a guess you have no chance of sorting anything.
Also quick growing spikie type bushes around the inside of your fence....will make it more painful for them when landing or a wild rose bush...they have get spikes.... Hope you get it sorted out and keep reporting it to the police. I am sure the police will have a good idea who they are and a ctv camera could give you great evidence.0
