Howdy all again! A question for the humira people out there - I've always had extremely dry skin between a couple of my fingers, especially my left and right little finger - I assume that's the psoriasis of my PA?? Anyhow, now I'm on humira, I've noticed I'm itching my skin more, lower arms, face, fingers. The dryness has increased on my hands increasing to between my of my fingers and between thumb and forefinger. I've also noticed I've been scratching without notice on my forehead/hairline and arms enough to raise a bit of blood.

Is this a normal reaction? Has anyone else had this?

thanks

frank

    Hello Frank!

Towards the end of my 3 year run on Humira I started to itch dreadfully - particularly my head, and forehead. There was nothiing to see, except where, like you, I was sore from the scratching. I have had similar bouts of itching since stopping Humira but nothing like as much so I can't say for sure if the Humira was to blame. One thought - fungal infections can be associated with the anti-tnfs, but if there is nothing to see I guess that's not the cause in your case. Might be worth seeing what the GP has to say? You have my sympathy tho cos constant itching is enough to drive you mad isn't it? Hope you get to the bottom of it soon.

Start to moisturise your skin as much as you can - aqueous cream is good for that, it is non-perfumed, lanolin-free and can also be used as soap. A large tub (500ml) can be purchased for about £2.50 from supermarket pharmacies. My P (when I get it) deosn't itch and my skin is, so far, irritation-free, but then being a girlie I do slather myself in gunk after every shower. I tend to dry, flaky skin too but then I always have - I think I am part lizard. Perhapsd it is worth mentioning this to your rheumatology team: I know that rashes are a side effect of meth, read through the humira leaflet and see what that says. I wish you well. DD
Have you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben
