Who wants to be a billionaire?

According to the list published by the Forbes magazine, there are 1,210 dollar billionaires in the world - the most it has ever named. At the top, for the second year running, is the Mexican telecoms mogul Carlos Slim, with an astonishing personal wealth of 74 billion dollars. It's been a good year for Mr Slim, who added 20.5 billion dollars to his fortune in the last 12 months alone.
That means he made more than 56 million dollars every day in 2010.   He's even richer than Bill Gates
I can't get my head round anyone having so much money. It seems obscene when there is so much poverty in the world, and I wonder what good they do with it. It seems that the rich are getting richer while the rest of us are getting poorer.

It's difficult to imagine one billion, but some people demonstrated it by using cheesy wotsits. They estimate that you would need at least 772 white vans to move 1 billion wotsits. It does give you an idea of the vast wealth of these people.0

That is the most bizarre and obscure way that I have ever heard of anything being visually demostrated  I bet it was done by a couple of stoners who happened to have the munchies so bad they could eat a billion wotsits :shock:Me-Tony

Apparently, the rich have been stung by the recession too... I can just imagine a billionnaire losing a couple of million quid... my heart bleeds...
Somehow, I just can't sympathise??

Quite true, Mirabella. Some things money can't buy. These super-rich people end up living in heavily guarded places because they never feel truly secure, and as you say, you wouldn't know who you could trust.0 -
You can be rich and in pain with physios, nurses, etc. and as much help on immediate call as possible. Or you can be poor and in pain and treated on the NHS and go without everything you really need. Choices, choices????
