as some of you know I had a TWR last Nov I am now getting pain in it more closer to the thumb joint but the wrist is throbbing and although its not swollen or hot it is quite painful, they did say they dont know how long the replacment joint will last but i do hope it lasts a good few years, I had relaxed and started doing more with it , but thinking if the pain is caused by over using it I must give it more care and not take it for granted, a case of chillin a bit more and realising I cannot do what I used to do years ago, how do you all cope in having repsect for your joint replacments and not doing too much with it ??? michelle

I think a full recovery from these things can take longer than we either think or are told - everyone heals at a different rate for starters. I suspect you coould be slightly over-doing things as it is feeling better, so cut back a little on what you are doing, make sure you rest your wrist when you can and keep up with any exercises they told you to do as they will help with strengthening cut muscles etc. I hope it feels a little easier soon. Hi lavendarlady
Looks like you may have been overdoing it as you have said but it must be so difficult not to when you think the problem has been fixed....I would be the same.
Take care and rest your wrist more....hope it settles down again soon.

    Hi Michelle

Well i would be optomistic and think I had overdone it if i were you. rest and rest and rest until it feels better.

I do hope it will be ok very soon. If not - do you still see 'anyone' with it?

    Love

hi yes I have to see the surgeon in July but if it really hurts is swollen or red got to go to see him urgently which is a pain as I live on the Isle of wight and the surgeon is over in Southampton, but I did not have any physio as he was so impressed with the range of movements I managed myself he said I didnt need it, like you all say been getting carried away with my new joint got to learn to relax more or wear my splint, wearing that reminds me to slow down, am worried I might damage the joint as I was told they have no idea how long it will last, michelle

    Hi Michelle

Is it any better at all after resting it?

If not you have to weigh up any deterioration against seeing 'someone'.

Have you got an appointment booked in with the surgeon already?
