I was out in the garden this morning and spotted a blue tit hanging around the bird box - and in it went. It then appeared again, head just poking out of the door and another one pitched up. Some sort of conflab went on, second bird flew off, first bird came out, went back in again, then flew off. I think we might have new family on the way. DD

All I will say is grey squirrels and cats, cat's eat the young in they fall onto the floor not coz their hungrey but coz they like that sort of thing and squirrels are known to raid nests so if you have a cats around or worse a squirrel then watch out for them as much as you can DD.

Oddly enough a young squirrel turned up, perched on the shed roof which is just behind the trellis that the bird box is on: we rarely get them in the back garden so either he was just exploring or he has sussed out that they are there. I will do my best to keep him away! As for the blasted moglets, well, one woman against nine cats - what are the odds? I wish our little birdies well. DD

We dont have a lot of cats around here and the few that do venture into the garden decide not to visit again due to my dog going mental, I do have squirrels though, and at this time of year they are very active, mostly because the dog doesn't seem keen to go out in bad weather! Squirrels are cute but an absolute nuisance, they have pinched most of the bird food I have put out and are ruining my fencing with all their scurrying back and forth!

You keep an eye out for those little birds during their courting and you may be come a Nanna later lol

A fecking squaggy turned up in my garden a year or so ago eating all the bird food and causing problems, big mistake I can tell you, got shot of it so to speak then another turned up so got shot that one as well I caught the blighter digging in the lawn with it's back to the house, it never saw the red lazer dot on the back of it's head!, so bye bye Mr Sqauggy, funny thing though we've been squaggy free for a few years now and both bird boxes always produce young that don't get murderd by the illeagal immigrant with grey fur.
