Grinding and popping out of place hip??

About three days ago the outside of my hip started grinding and since yesterday it pops out of place (or feels like it) every time I move my leg. It started aching last night too but not sure if that is because I am scared of it flaring up and I am maybe imagining more than what it is.
My arthritis started with similar feelings in my groin but took only a few hours from grinding to full blown chronic pain.
I probably already know the answer but has anyone had similar feelings and did it turn into a full on flare or did it just stay with grinding etc.
I am taking 20mg of methotrexate a week so was not expecting to get arthur in any new places??

Hi there
I can't help with the hip popping buisness as I don't have that problem but if I were you I would make an appointment to see gp, or rhummy peeps. They would be the ones to put your mind at rest.
Hope it's nothing serious

Hi Jean-Mary,
Sorry its doing that. Mind have done similar but they tell me mine is oa in there.
I think you maybe should run it past someone cus if you are out of line cus of the other arthritis it can mean the joints can;t work as they should too well and oa is quick to find that a place to come along.
It might not be and could be anything really but its best to mention it to your rumo next visit and if that's a while off it might be worth either trying to be seen sooner or run it past your gp.
I hope it will soon ease off for you. Cris x0 -
I too think you should contact someone. Something doesn't sound right and I bet it doesn't feel right either. If you are in anyway unsure then get in touch with those who might be able to help. I wish you well. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

I contacted my rheumy nurse who then spoke to rheumy.
They have put the mtx up to 25mg which I was unsure about as I have been feeling mega super tired since going up to 20mg but apparently I can take folic acid three times a week which is good, didn't realise I could do that!
If no change in a week then I can have an earlier appointment.
Still a bit scared about it as I have been living with how my body is fine and really didn't want anything else to be affected....can't be many places left now!
Thanks for your advice peeps!!Jean-Mary

Aren't there two hundred and summat jonts in the body? Meth doesn't entirely stop the spread but it is meant to slow it - are you on anything else? I am glad you rang someone and I hope the increase in meth is tolerable for you - if not, what about the injected variety? You have a smaller dose but as the liquid is more powerful that is not a bad thing. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

To be honest, I don't really know enough about treatments for arthur, perhaps I should ask more questions. I always feel so hurried at my appointments.
Thank you for your advice.Jean-Mary

Hi Jean-Mary
Flower i was up to 25 and for once it did kinda hols things fr a bit. I couldn't handle it though in tablet form cus it went after what was left of my stomach lining too much so now waiting for the jabs instead.
I bit like you and not so sure of the treatments really... for me i want it to stop but it never really will.... With luck you will get a bit of relief and then once its got control of your bones they can drop it back to 20.
You hang in there and with a bit of luck it will work and it will calm down. Glad you got some advice though and let us know how it goes please. try not to worry its sadly the nature of the thing that it moves around but it doesn't always damage the joint and if its controlled enough you can remission. Hope it will really work for you . Cris x0 -
Hi Jean-Mary
I used to feel a grinding pain and also a feeling that my hip was 'locking' or 'dislocating' , but that was due to severe osteoarthritis and it ended with my having a hip replacement last year.
Have you had your hip x-rayed in the last 12 months or so? I think it woud be worth seeing your GP or rheuatologist for advice if this grinding feeling continues.

Not really liking the references to osteoarthritis!!!
Going to make damn sure I get some scanning done next time I see rheumy!!!
Thanks!Jean-Mary
