Well i just had to post an update . I am on my 4th day and have lost 4ibs i know it wont last but it is a good start. My husband is dieting with me ,hes lost 4ibs to . It as made me see it does work ,
i have done the atkins before and lost 4stone but that was a long time ago and i thought i could'nt do it again .
If anyone would like to join me it would be great we could keep each other on the straight and narrow and cheer each other up when it gets to hard.

I have 5 stone to loss. I am starting some new meds for inflamatory arthritis in a week and i have been told you put weight on with them. so i am trying to get used to a diet now . wish me luck i really need it .........jilly

Hi Jilly - Well done- That is a lot of weight to loose in 4 days! I suspect that because you have a "bit" to loose the initial weight loss will be quite high. I'd love to join you I need to loose 2 stone, so you will have to let me know what you are having on your diet. I will start next Monday -- Its a new start at work too as that is when I start my new role for the same company, would be nice to wear my summer clothes without all the bulges!

That is a good start by you and well done. I hope the new med does not have that effect, sometimes the predicted effects don't turn up, we are all so different in how we react. Keep your attention diverted from food and its apparent lack (it is so easy to over-eat) and I hope the loss continues. DD
Have you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben

    Hi Jilly
Between Oct and Dec I lost a stone - I wasn't dieting but was working very long hours 12-14 a day, not eating well and was very active - providing care to people in their own homes, then my arthritis flared (back) was off work from Dec - for 10 weeks. Obviously not active and not likely to be very active for a while as knees and hip have joined in the party. And I put the weight back on. Am trying to be a bit more active - gardening- but can't walk far so going to have to cut the calories accordingly!
I really will make the effort starting on monday though, because I did feel better without that extra stone - will need support though as I love my food!

Keep it going , Jilly , I only manage to lose 1 or 2 lbs a week as I'm a non exerciser ( wheelchair ) , but I've lost 2 and a half stone in 6 months and feel really pleased and smug ! If I can lose some weight , anyone can manage it . Eat sensibly and don't give in to cravings ! Jillyb

Hi Coco , i have decided to do the Atkins diet because it worked for me before , i have tried lots of diets but they dont work for me .
Atkins is a high protein diet , you can eat proteins but no carbs , so bread and potatos are out . No sweet stuff either , it is not an easy diet if you like carbs but it work quickly and i dont feel hungry on it . You can get a book called the Atkins new diet book... i got mine on ebay only cost me £2 pounds ..........you can go on their site and find a lot out about it . hope that helps ............jilly x

    well done jilly

4lb is very good. especially in 4 days and i think it is great that your husband is also doing the diet. You both have each other for inspiration.
    keep up the good work.
