I spent most of my childhood either making and eating mud pies.

If I wasnt playing with mud, I was with my male cousins playing with sheep or geese on my uncles small holding. The amount of time I ended up covered in something a little less savoury well......

Some people take this political correctness too far. What are the parents going to do? Sue the school because their kid caught a cold from anothers red nose.

When my kids were small and someone said their child had chickenpox I was round visiting the same day. Now its probably called child abuse!

The trouble is that schools are in a no-win situation these days. There are so many rules imposed on them by the health and safety regulations, and some parents are quick to criticise or report anything which they regard as a danger to their children, however trivial it might seem. I feel sorry for headteachers because they are damned if they do, and damned if they don't these days.

My youngest two went to school in their pyjamas and had their hair tied in bunches (my youngest has a short bob of hair so she ended up with 4 bunches and various clips by the time we'd finished with her).

They're outside now on their bikes, still in their pyjamas - completely bonkers. My youngest rode her bike into the flower bed half an hour ago and got stuck in the rose bushes which had punctured a hole in her cardigan.

I saw the whole thing from the kitchen window. Quite funny actually :D I wish I'd been filming it. She laughed too once we'd untangled her and made sure there was no blood.

How are they supposed to learn not to hurt themselves if they don't hurt themselves every now and again??

My 6 year old great nephew went to school today with a painted red nose, a "proper" red nose, his blonde hair sprayed red and red painted red noses on his t shirt! His school have fully embraced rednose day, but its only a small village school with about 100 pupils. He's had a great day!

Yeah Abingdon use to have an swimming pool in the thames as you say no chance of it now, mind you can always come to Wallingford and see the local feckwits throw themselves off Wallingford bridge,no deaths yet but it will happen I'm sure.
