second attempt lost last one lol
right know not much about me is normal but
we went to pub from work last night (work 4 hours on my feet whole time) got seats near screen , got up to order food, twice to go loo,and couple of times to play games machine. by time we left 7.30 when football was over feet were swollen joints had seezed up and hands and arms were painfull. had two bottles cider (can not drink stuff they have on tap ) so i supose what i want to know does any one else have this type of problem, does it also cause them to put off going out as the pay back lasts longer than the evening out any tips and advice would be welcome val

    Morning Val.

you have just described me, it happens a lot. if im going out i always try and make sure i have nothing planed for the day after as i know i always end up in a state, even if not drinking, feet end up 4xthere normal size and i do the arther shuffle (stiff as a board) a lot. i hope you enjoyed your time out anyway.

i try not to let it stop me as its easy to become issolated, i rest with my feet raised when i get in and just endure the payback

    Val..

At the moment i don't really go out unless necessary as i suffer after too..
I do not advice to stay in indefinately as this is no good..
I am still learning how to adapt..
Like Coco said i think it might be a good idea to plan ahead,, if you have something planned make sure you are free the day before and after so you can rest..
It is awful being like this but unfortunately we have to plan ahead to make our life a little bit easier if we can..
    Hope you feel better soon..
    Rest today...

I don't go out much for precisely those reasons, plus stuffing crutches out of the way in a cinema or theatre or pub isn't easy. In the majority of pubs the seats are too low and hard, leg room is non-existent (especially if tables are crammed in) and standing at the bar is definitely out BUT I do like going to the pub as the beer helps the dullers work slightly better and drinking is the one activity I can still share with friends. The payback is worth it. DD

Hi Val. I have to weigh a night out with all the difficulties that go with it. I have a dry throat so need to drink but can't go and stand at a bar if too crowded. Then I have a very weak bladder so frequently need the loo so must workout where the loo is straight away, sitting in a convenient place and not too far away.Clothes have to be comfortable. I have to claim a seat so have to sit incase it is taken from me making a trip to the loo doubly worrying! Then there is the payback from sitting in one place or having to stand.

    Hi Val
I hope the pain is easing off for you, l dont go out much these days, but when I do, like Elizabeth I have to plan ahead, but we went to a friends party not long ago, and stupid me didnt want to just sit there and have people fetching ans carrying food and drink.
So yeah the day after I did pay for it....but I did have a brilliant time...

Hi , Val , hope the pain is easing a little now . Sad to say , any form of alcohol has adverse effects on me so I now avoid it and stick to low cal tonic or soda water . I still manage to enjoy the social side of the evening . Jillyb

I endorse your research, that's why I (and my drinking buddies) never allow our glasses to become dry

    HI Val,
I am put off all the time from doing what i would like or even what ive always done in the past. I find if i deviate from my usual 9pm bed then im exhausted the next day and then the pain gets me down. I have no social life and alot of my friends dont bother with me any more. I do enjoy being home with my family though and i am truely thankful i have them or i would be a lonely old sole!
Its a shame your social life is being affected, another side thats not fair to what we have to go through.
Hope your feeling a bit better now,

I have decided that I dont go out to pubs just for the sake of it but I do go to friends houses. I find that this is easier for me as I am able to take things with me for comfort, relax a bit more and the friends I spend time with are much more understanding that jo public.

Obviously they come to me as well and I find it so much better.

For special occasions we will go out but we will find somewhere that is practical for me

My friends are absolutely fabulous and they would welcome you with open arms. They are great and without them I would really struggle.

    Oooh Val

If you do ever get stuck in the bath try letting teh water out and wrap youself in a towel so you don't get cold and you might be able to get more traction to get out.

ALSO I never have my bath without me mobile phone!

and finally - I find cooking sherry far more effective!!

    Love

I only have a bath when OH is in the house.

I also take my mobile with me everywhere If I ever get stuck doing something I call someone.

I had a handle installed to help me get out of the bath and for me to pull myself up. I am hoping that I wont need the use of my OH or my mobile anymore :)
