well I am convinced now that having reduced my Humira and MTX due to a cold was a big mistake! I am suffering a lot of pain, both knees, right shoulder and left ankle are now worse than ever.Today I had to take my daughter to school and my knee painfully cracked and buckled twice.
I know my chest infection needed to be controlled by anti biotics but this pain is so soul destroying and I have the added worry of caring for my 3 lovely children, one who needs a lot of monitoring and care. He is currently alone in the kitchen and I am hoping he is not up too mischief! OH will thankfully be home soon,
Love and hugs to you all fellow sufferers,
Elizabeth

Oh I am sorry to hear that. I hope the OH is home soon, that the child in the kitchen is safe, and that you can have a rest. When is the next whack of humira due? (I should remember but I am sorry, tkachev, I don't. ) I hope you have a reasonable evening/night, despite everything. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

HI Elizabeth, that chest infection has a lot to answer for. Let's hope the meds get back to reasonable levels in your system soon and start tackling the cause of all your joint pain. Perhaps OH could take the kids on one of his days out tomorrow to give you a break - the forecast looks good.
SpeedyI have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.0 -
Oh Elizabeth, I am so sorry you are suffering like this, how I wish I had a magic wand, I do hope that it eases for you very soon.
I dont understand the meds you are on, do they take a while to start working again :?: I do hope not.
Let OH take over , and hopefully you can get some well earned rest.
Sending you some very gentle hugs ((((())))

I took humira on Saturday and MTx Wednesday so I am 'topped up'. I am annoyed as I had the R.A under control and now the pain has set back in.I think it may take some time to get back under contol. The ankle is Osteo arthritis so was deteriorating at its own pace and needs a fusion to rectify it and my hip is R.A damaged so I expect problems with these joints but the other stuff is usually well controlled.I can feel it in my left elbow now!I also have some parties to attend in the coming weeks and this may well spoil things.
Love to you all

Oh Elizabeth
HUG for you
I am so sorry you are feeling so shift at the moment. It is so unfair isn't it? You needed the antibiotics but you needed your meds too.
I really really hope the meds kick in very soon and you get back on an even keel soon.

Thank you all. I do just go to bed and have 'cuddles'with the children but I am always thinking about the rubbish that is accumalating so never feel at ease.
Now I have been told the 'whirlwind children' are coming for a visit in an hour.If they would stay downstairs that would be so much easier otherwise I have to keep trekking up and down stairs to keep an eye on them.Last time one of them opened a small paint pot and painted some of my sons letters from school, and ripped up a feather. Nothing major but just shows I have to follow them around. OH and Mr Whirlwind chat and chat (they say women talk a lot)and take no notice of the kids and last time I complained Mr Whirlwind told me off for fussing(Child was pulling all my paperwork off the table).
I am feeling stressed

I'm on my way, I'll deal with the kids..............
I can look very mean when I want to..
:green :green :green :green
They'll behave if they know what's good for em....
If you aren't up to visitors you should tell them Elizabeth.. Either that or they keep the kids under control...
Best wishes hun...

Ahh Elizabeth, poor you. As if you need to be watching other peoples kids when you're feeling rough
What about wearing a knee support for when it's really hurting - I find mine really good though I tend to wear it once a week only when I do the Sainsbury's trip as I know it'll be under excessive strain.
Hope you feel better soon.Love, Legs x

I wish Tony. It started well but parents have faded off duty now so I came in here as fed up.
Where can I get a knee support from Linda? Shops or GP? Would this stop the collapsing and cracking?
Hi Joan good luck with your pre op 18th April. I still have no date but ankle is getting worse.
Thanks all x

I bought my knee support from the local pharmacy, can't remember how much now but think it was over £5. It's padded and has velcro fastenings so you can adjust it if your knee's more swollen on some days rather than others. I wouldn't say it stops the cracking but it might help with the giving way and will certainly make you feel more confident.Love, Legs x

oh elizabeth i feel stressed for you....
You do right to tell any child off in your house if they are causing riot. It just isn't fair.
Hope you are not too tired when they leave.
Relax now and have a nice cuppa ,
Take care

I really wish I could turn up and give em right telling off... Lol
I'm sorry that you are suffering hun.. I can vouch for the knee supports with the giving way bit.. I used to buy the expensive velcro ones, had three straps, two and one side and one on the other and a hole for the kneecap.. Thing is they don't last very long, you are supposed to be able to wash them but they really don't seem to be as good once you do.
If you can get a decent width crepe bandage they can be very effective if put on right, with them you can decide where the knee gets the most support. Just don't do what I did and get yourself dependant on strapping them up, took me a long time to get me knee used to not being so..
Best wishes mi dear.

Brilliant and thanks for the advice on the knee supports. I have wrist supports, which I never use as my hands are generally fine.
Peace reigns now and all the clearing up was done for me and OH has cooked dinner. I will leave the washing up until tomorrow. I am off to bed now with a hot water bottle for my ankle and one for my knees.
Night all

Thank you Barbara.
I am so tired but doubt I will sleep very well as the knee pain( and my left hip when lying down keeps waking me up every 15 mins or so).I just can't get a comfy spot!
