I am taking humira, meth, steroids and various other bits and pieces. I dropped the anti-inflammatories ages ago: the humira has reduced the markers considerably and consistently, at my last blood test they were CRP <1 and ESR 2 - so that to my mind indicates very little inflammation, yes?
Right knee fifteen inches round (it was smaller yesterday) left knee is now a mighty twenty three (it was only twenty two last night). It's all above the knee cap too, it looks very odd. Gosh, it takes me back.
I am mystified. I'm not bothered, it's an irritation, it was like this for years and it's no more painful than usual, but what is in there? That piques my curiosity. I am hoping it's diamonds. That would make it all worthwhile, perhaps I am converting synovial fluid into diamonds. DD

Hopefully you've got emeralds in there DD. Carat for carat they're more valuable.
I've got an obsession with measuring too. Pre-op, right big toe was 3 inches minus one dit. Today it's 3 inches and two dits. Left big toe pre-op was 3 inches, today it's 3 inches and four dits.
Stu said why don't I measure all my op scars and aggregate them as I'm so keen on measurements?
I won't say what came next but it has something to do with 9 inches and disbelief :oops:0 -

I don't usually bother to measure, only when things don't look or feel right. I still have a way to go to beat my record, which was 27", that was before my first open synovectomy. It does deflate a little when I rest but as soon as I move up we go again, so I shan't move much today! What a waste of a lovely day, marooned on a sofa. Blast it. DDHave you got the despatches? Hi DD,
It seems not to be inflammation from your bloods but its kinda sounds like fluid and well maybe an anti inflammatory or an erratic might help?
Fluid can come in for many reasons and inflammation is just one of them... you know what i am going to ask you don't you? When you being seen again? Leaving a ((( ))) and a hope it will go down a bit. Cris who never measures anything xx0 -
Hi dd
I am also one who measures just to prove to myself that my eye sight is correct.
I hope the knee has gone back to normal tomorrow after hopefully you have kept your leg up. If not I would go see your doctor.
Fingers crossed for you

Never thought of measuring DD..
Sounds like your suffering at the moment...
Hopefully with some rest it may go down...
If not you may need to see your GP...
Hope you feel better soon luvie...xxTracyxx0 -
Hi DD, I'm sorry your knees are so swollen, though it is a bonus that they are no sorer than usual. Does feel a waste of a day, having to lie on the sofa - but ice and elevation is all you can do. Plenty of sport on TV at least to keep you occupied. Hope the tape measure start showing they are improving soon.
SpeedyI have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.0 -
I have decided to add back in the Naproxen - I haven't taken it for ages as my markers were so low but as I have fluid-filled balloons for knees perhaps it can do something to help - oral thrush here we come again. Luvverly.
I might contact the helpline tomorrow but I know what they will say: up the steroids and come in for aspiration. NO to both. Let's see if the nap does anything first.
skezier? I am seeing someone in April, that's soon enough, but I do have to go to rheumatology next Wednesday to collect the meth - long skirt will be the order of the day and sprightly steps with the sticks, anything to make 'em think it's fine! I can cope with most things this dross throws at me but aspiration is an absolute no-go area. Your cowardly friend, DD.Have you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0 -
Hi dd
Just popping in to see if the knees had reduced in size....No they haven't eh? I am sorry, I was hoping that after yesterdays keeping them elevated it would have cured them.
I know aspiration isn't very nice I have had it done too but dear dd if it would help is it not worth it.......(swear at me if you like)
Hope they are better tomorrow .
Take care

Hi DD,
Interesting thread, Ive never thought about measuring my knee
My rheummy told me my knee looked rather juicy.... and that was before the asperation.....
Im off to find a tape measure....
Mark
Found tape measure!!! Left knee 19 inch and right knee 20 inch (right knee has been recently asperated took 35ml out...)0 -
I have heard that term before with reference to another forum member - I reckon you two share the same rheumatologist! They are both still beautifully inflated, the left is very close to 24" now, the right is up to 19". I have rung my helpline. I think I know what the day might bring so I am packing my case and going. Never mind Hammer time, it's Daisy time - 'You can't touch these.' DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Morning dd
hope the helpline get in touch soon and don't keep you waiting all morning. Just want to wish you luck with whatever they suggest.
Sat here if you need me for pocket duty.

They have rung back. Double aspiration at the end of morning clinic. Je suis glum. :sad:Have you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0
