    Hi Eileen,

Yep got 2 kinds. Not as bad as it could be though cus they took all the joints out the one foots toes and fused them up so with no joints they are a lot better than the ones that does have joints in them.

have you got it in yours as well? I so would go for more surgery if they offered it... its a bit like a quick kinda fix and slows it down some for sure.

Hope you have had a decentish week end and the family are all good? Cris xx

    Hi Magenta

Yes, I do  Toni is right I am having the offending bunion removed that does not hurt but is playing havoc with the second and third toe. The third toe was excruciatingly painful until it dislocated years ago and the second toe was also very painful but a recent steroid injection got rid of most of the pain.I cannot walk barefoot now though as that is uncomfortable. That toe is lifting very kindly so that the big toe can travel even more to the right and lie underneath the second toe. This toe is red and fatter than it was and I have redness on the top of my foot near the toes - inflammation apparantly and in 6 weeks the surgeon could see a deterioration as I could. So I shall be having the big toe, second and third toe dealt with at the same time.

I am so sorry that your toes have been affected. It can be most painful.

    Luv
    Elna x

Hi Lynn, Toni, Cris and Elna,

Every joint in my body causing me probs the now
I got xrays done on my hands and feet. I told consultant about the problems with my thumbs and hands and she thinks I've got OA in the base of my thumbs. I have been getting sore feet but now, especially my right foot, I'm getting alot of pain in my big toe and the 2 next to it. My big toe has 2 reddish raised lumps on it and toe next to it has a huge lump (red tip to it) and swelling further down into the foot area.
    I'm slowly falling to bits.
Cris, my family are all well. It was my Mums 70th on Friday so we were doing lots of family things over the weekend. John, my hubby, now has OA in his knees but he's doing ok. Hope you are ok?

    Hi Magenta,

I have arthritis in my big toes - one has already had a fusion and pin inserted and I should really go and see about the other one because it's really giving me jip at the moment!! I can no longer bend the toe but it's so much better. Can wear only about 1 inch heels but was never one for high heels anyway.

I can also sympathise with the thumb problem - had one sorted but hoping the other one will settle down.

    Best wishes.

    Hi,
Thanks everyone. Pain in my thumb is very annoying. I'm dropping things all the time-had this before but only occasionally. Can't get money out of my purse either!!
Big toes cracking all the time-wonder what xrays will show up, if anything.

    Lynn,
My Mum really enjpyed her birthday, thanks for asking. I have 2 older sisters and the 3 of us took my Mum to see Mama Mia on Friday-it was brilliant. My feet and hands suffered the next day

Oh Majenta, you're talking my kind of oa! I could write a few text books for you.

Diagnosis at 25, fusion at 42, new joint at 48, joint taken out at 49, now have 'space' on one side. I found that all your weight goes onto remaining toe joints which now hurt like hell, don't even like bedclothes on them. Walking is fun (hah!) but I can ride my bike, rough ground not good. it also affects your ankles, knees and hips (more hahs!) over the years.

The only way forward seems the 'Churchillian way' keep bug^&**ng on! and some handy painkillers. Haven't got an answer for the thumbs or fingers except the same.

    Thanks everyone-again!
I'm really suffering at the moment. My left thumb locked last night whilst turning a page in a book and ever since then it's been agony. My ankles too have swollen up today (and knees!!!!) I'm finding it very sore driving with the constant pressure on the base of my toes (on the pedals). Don't know hat to do. My doc is on holiday and rhuemy didn't give me a follow-up appointment. Do I just keep going?
    Hope everyone well,
    Eileen xxx
