Extreme Tiredness

Hi, I've been feeling pretty low and yesterday I went to sleep before lunch, woke up feeling really awful and so heavy with tiredness that I kept dropping of during my lunch! I spilt a drink all down me and had to change. I went to bed in the afternoon and slept for 2 and a half hours, when I got up I felt awful, I wouldn't have got up, but felt guilty, leaving my husband on his own. I'mm 55 and have OA. I kept going off to sleep and as much as I tried to keep awake, my brain kept shutting off and I'd be gone.
about 10 pm I felt a lot better and ate something and seemed to join the human race again!
I'm seeing the doc tomorrow, so will talk to her about it. I do feel worried though, its like my ordinary tiredness but worse my brain was foggy and I can't fight it. So far so good today, but I'm not tempting fate! Maybe its all the recent events catching up on me. Love Sue

I do that when I flare so perhaps that is the same with you - OA can flare I believe, I don't know if it does it the same way or not but I can empathise with the tiredness. Don't fight it, it makes it worse. Sleep as much as you need. DD

    Hi woodbon
Sorry you have been feeling a bit low lately and I hope things improve soon. It is a pain in the backside when your body wants to sleep but it is just away of trying to make you rest.
You obviously needed to sleep and I hope it has done you some good.
I would mention it to your gp tomorrow and see what they say.
    Good luck with your appointment
    Take care

    Hi Sue

Sorry to see this, but hope your doc can give you some advise tomorrow. You must have needed the rest eh? and it never hurts to sleep. Hope things look a bit brighter soon.

    Hi Sue
Im so sorry you are feeling so tired, but I do think you should listen to your body and rest.
The tiredness is awful, I blamed the meds I am on, but to be honest every day is different, some mornings I dont want to get out of bed, I have to because of my grandchildren and getting then off to school, but at least I can get a nap before they come home.
I do hope your GP can help, and dont feel guilty about lying in.
    Love

    Hi Sue

I can sympathise with your symptoms. As the others say it may be arthur or med related.

I had a similar problem and mine was a thyroid problem. I managed to stay awake 3 hours a christmas day before I was diagnosed.

The only thing you can do is sleep so if you feel tired sleep and mention it to the doctor.

Hope the dr's goes well tomorrow

Hello, Thank you all, I've had a better day today on the whole, but I've rested a lot! I wonder if the stress I've had since before Christmas, with health worries, is catching up a bit. I think it is a sort of flare, as I have a lot of pain and swelling in new places and my hands look horrible at the moment! I feel a bit like I'm being sent from piller to post at the hospital, seeing all the departments I've been to!
Thanks for all the support, its so helpful and I'm lucky to have it. Lots of love to all of you, Sue xxxx

    Hi Sue,

Stress can stuff you can't it? There are so many things that it could be just now and I kinda agree with the others you have to just listen to your body and sleep if that's what you need to do. Fatigue is evil and I so hope you will soon feel a lot better. Cris xx

    Hello

I don't have same illness as you however I know that when my lupus and arthritis decide to remind me of their presence as well as increased pain, swelling joints, lumps and bumps I also just keep falling asleep.

I put it down to my immune system working overtime so totally tiring me out.

I just shrug my shoulders going 'oh well' and lie down and sleep!

Glad to read you are feeling a bit better.

    Hi Sue

SOunds like your body is 'catching up' with all the things that have been going on over recent months..

Sometimes, I just put myself to bed for 12-14 hours and that seems to sort me out.. I know you have got a very supportive husband so I'm sure he won't mind you having some 'down time'..

    Hope you feel better soon.
