Hi janeys, it's good to hear from you. You are going thro a rough patch, aren't you? I am so sorry but I think your doctor is right, you need to get your health better sorted before you can think about going back to work. You say the tramadol is helping the pain, which is good, but I hope the side effects begin to lessen - has your doctor suggested an anti-inflammatory? I think Kalms are a herbal thing and they can be very good, perhaps they will help your mood to stabilise and reduce the anxiety. It takes time to come to terms with the impact of arthritis, it changes everything about one's life until one adjusts to it. You take care, and please let us know how you get on tomorrow. Hi Jayneys
I am sorry you are so down, you have so much going on, and excepting that you will not go back to work must be hard.
You just take things slowly and see how it all goes, maybe in the future you might be able to work part time.
And please dont apologise for your post, we are all here for one another.
You take carer

Hi Jayney
Sorry to hear that you havent been too good recently. I have recently been diagnosed with OA and I have been struggling emotionally like you. I sit and cry one minute and then I am laughing and joking the next. I am not sure if I am going to be able to go back to work at the moment althought I am assuming not because of the work I did. I have suffered with the reaction to tramadol and I now rely on Co-codamol, Gabapenthin, diclofenac but it is just taking the edge off of things at the moment. I am going to see the GP tomorrow to see how things stand with me as well.
Feeling lost is a normal thing I believe and I can really sympathise with you. Its the thought of emptiness and not knowing what youare going to do for the rest of your time. You are probably like me that you want to know how this is going to affect you and what can you do! Get yourself feeling better and focus on your health first. Your health is the most important thing at the moment.
If you want to chat I am here most of the time. Look after yourself and I hope that things sort themselves out for youJaki0 -

The only thing I can suggest to you is take one day at a time. I am glad that the doctor is trying to help you but if you arent entirely happy with your doctor and the way he is dealing with things you are within your rights to see another doctor. It might help to have another set of eyes on the problems and you might be able to change pills without the side effects.
Hope things start to improve for you

I know it's hard but surely it's better not to think or focus on what new medication might do in terms of side effects, just focus on the fact that it could help you feel better. It is right that we are told about what MIGHT happen but that does not guarantee that stuff WILL. If you cannot take the tramadol then it's right to try something else and let's hope that works better for you. Let us know how you get on, please. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0
