Hi Everyone hope you are all feeling on the good side not to much pain today.

I have just got back from the hospital , started my Sulfasalazine she told me if i get side effects try to stick with it ,so wondering if there is anyone that takes this and did they get troublesome side effects .

As some of you know i have started a diet and dont want to feel rubbish and think it is the diet when it may be the pills or the other way.

I am counting on starting to feel back to myself in a few weeks and looking forward to the summer , me being a warmer , slimmer , happier person .

I am still sorting out things with the sjorgrens and seeing the ENT later this month. If he can help i should be sorted :?:

Hello to all the dieters club members 'are you being good' ......jillyxx

I had lots of bruising when I first started it, that cleared after about three months (I think) then after a few years on 6 tablets a day I developed tinnitus. That's all I can report as 'side effects'. I wish you well. DD
Have you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben

    Hi Jilly

When I first had Sulpha I had shocking headaches and nausea until my body got used to the full dose and then I was absolutely fine. Took it for years after that without any probs at all. Hopefully you won't have any side effects Jilly and it will really help you.

Good luck with the ENT and the Sjogrens. I was recently diagnosed with Sjogrens by an eye specialist (having had symptoms for many years) and he suggested that the mouth/voice side of things would probably require referral to an ENT bod. Will be interested to know how your ENT referral goes.

    Good Luck!

Hi, I am on week 5 of sulfa. I had a slight nausea to start with. Other than the shockingly luminous wee, nothing.

I have felt worse whilst on it, and thought it was the tabs, but when I went to hosp, bloods showed a flare so it has been decided it isn't the tabs.

    Hope it works for you.

Thanks Tilly , I am so unlucky i am just worried i will get all the side effects ,
The sjorgens is a strange thing is'nt it . I cant get a diagnoses as to what is going on . I lost my voice 3 years ago when i started with the dry mouth and itchy eyes , i have had oral thrush over and over again ,and the thrush in the nether regions forever. My teeth are so sharp and worn and the enamel as gone .
I have had to insist on my doctor doing something about my voice it is stopping me from wanting to mix with people . How is it going with you does it help to get it diagnosed or do you just then know what it is and no help?
I will post and let you know how i go on thanks again for your help....jilly x

    Hi.....

I'm 2 weeks into the Sulfa.......

Nothing bad to report other than mild nausea & the odd brain splitting headache! Wee varies from bright yellow to normal colour, I imagine it'll stay day-glo once I'm up to the full dose in a couple more weeks.

    Hi Jilly,

With luck you will either not get any or there will be the headachy sickish ones that you soon stabilize over.

I got a quite a few and after 9 months developed a reaction big time to it all but it did actually show real improvements in both my bones and crohn's so till the reaction got serious i stayed on it.

Hey good luck with the diet. I really hope you do well and on the Atkins you will but just make sure you take the vits ad minerals substitutes cus for me its always left me void of most of them. mind i don't eat meat so that might make it a little less balanced to use in my case.

Fingers crossed you get no side effects and a good result from the sulfa. Cris x
