Hi everyone, this is my second attempt of typing this, just dont know where first one went.

So,hope everyone has had the lovelly sunshine today. Can any of you help me. My specialist has asked me to lose some weight before my op.

They reckon it should only be 4 6 weeks away. I cant walk any distances and I have to do a bit of housework then sit down for bit. Is it me or am I in the catch 22 situation.

If anyone has any suggestions for me I would love to hear them please.

Hi , Karen , my usual suggestion which worked for me ; is to serve up your usual meals and then remove a quarter of each item on the plate every meal . This means you are automatically eating a quarter less than usual ; I am unable to exercise at all but have lost two and a half stone so far this year . Wish you lots of luck , don't give in it takes a while to see results . Jillyb

I was going to suggest reduce plate size and cut down portions. Drink plenty of water. alll you can do is watch your eating its hard with the excercise as you can only do what you can manage and you are the judge of that. Good luck with it all and the op hope it goes well and you can lose a bit of weight in the mean time x Joanne

Have to do the same think but for myself, had to be weighed when i was at hospital on friday and to say i nearly fell off my seat was an understatement, i cant do any type of excercise either at the min so have started to eat alot less like what jillyb1 suggested take a quater away, im hoping to see the difference and finally be able to where those jeans that still have there tags on.

Hi Karen , I am in need of losing 5 stone , we have started a diet club on the chat posts. There are lots of diet sugestions and recipes .

i needed to loss some weight fast so i have gone on Atkins New Diet dont know if you have heard of it . you eat many proteins , it does allow some carbs but not many for the first 2 weeks when you can lose 10Ibs if you stick to it .
I dont think any one should stay on this diet long term but it does get you off to a good start . I am the only one doing it , but i have lost 7 Ibs in 8 days . Have a look at the chat forum . .....jilly x

I'd love to lose about 2 to 3 stone but like most of you excercise is a no go for me I brought the diet plate which in fact is basically the same as cutting a 1/4 of the plate full of food off, its all about portion control we might not be able to control our arthritis but we can control what we put in our mouths , my big problem is when I feel pain or feel down it has to be a bar of chocolate thats what I'm going to try to cut down most of all, dont smoke or drink my only vice is choccy but it has to go especially as I am needing feet and ankle surgery, michelle

    Hi

I am trying to lose weight too but mine will probably take me all year to lose some significant loss.....
I do go out for walks and even if i have to stop I go....Can you go to a swimming pool? I go to hydrotherapy and thats excellent exercise.....Apaprt from that I dont know what condition you have but say you can still use your arms...Do armchair exercises...Two cans of beans and use them as temp weights??? I guess any kind of little exercise you can do would help along with diet too....As a last resort....SLim fast type shakes (but they dont agree with me)...they may agree with you....

    Good luck...
