Just wondered, within a mile radius of our house, a few sort of famous people live, ( well I suppose not megga famous but you know what I mean)
1.. Steve Coogan lived down the road from me once. (moved)
2.. Paul Scholes lived down the road from me once ( moved)
3.. Mike Harding comedian, folk singer lived down the road ( moved )
4.. Bernard Manning lived down the road ( died )
5.. Lisa Stansfield, singer, lived down the road ( moved).
6.. P.J.Proby, pop singer from the sixties, lived down the road ( moved).

Yep, counts big time, anyone will count. Manning once tried to bump start his Roller outside our house, for 2 hours. Only problem was, you cant, bump start an automatic, brought the neighbours out though.0 -
Edwina Currie lived very near here when she was an MP, and Don Shaw, the writer who wrote scripts for lots of things on TV, including Z-Cars and Dangerfield, lived in my village. Also one member of the pop-group, Shawaddywaddy, lived here too.

Lol
Was he swearing
I did attend a funeral a couple of years ago, a friend of my late Father's, a folk singer named Dave Dalmour... He was Sir Jim's best friend, so Sir Jim got up and said a few words, very surreal moment.. He had a black shell suit and a red string vest on  :shock:0 -

I think you are Victor Meldrew in disguise, Del0 -
We did live near a Formula 1 team boss and my then girlfriend used to babysit for them. As I used to collect and drop her off at the house, I was sometimes invited in for a chat and a coffee. I did meet some of the F1 drivers who were there and found them all to be very friendly and polite.
The one who still stands out was Ricky Von Opel (then owner of Opel Cars) who would sit and casually chat to me about cars/driving in general and was a really, really nice person to meet.0 -
Not sure i want to admit to this but william Haig lives less than 2 miles down the rd....0

Grundy from Grundy's North on the BBC lives at the other end of my street
Alan Shearer & Donna Air are both from Gosforth originally and Mark & David Knopfler (dire straits) & Neil Tennant (pet shop boys) all grew up here
My dad bought his house (in S. Wales) from the parents of the lead singer of Feeder...the band rehearsed there for years and his teenage graffiti was all over my brothers walls (till we painted over it)
Oh and the guy who lives directly opposite us was on 'Come Dine With Me'....it was rather cringeworthy

my Uncle had to sell both his bikes, has had one hip replaced, having second one done this month. He has MS.
Hoping there is a chance for him to get back to it as well..
