Hiya,
I seen rhuemy late Nov 2010 about my MRI scan on jaw. He said it showed extensive and severe damage to the joints and he was sending an urgent referral letter to dental consultant and maxillofacial surgeon that I was to be seen immediately. Was told I would be seen before March-got my letter today from hospital to see maxfacial surgeon. August!!!!!!!! So annoying!

I think these specialists live in a different time warp to us mere humans don't you?
It does make me laugh when the specialists tell you it won't be long, but they really don't have a clue about waiting lists etc..
Could you maybe be asked to be put on a cancellations list? Worth a try??
Best wishes with itMe-Tony

Hi Tony,
Hope you are well? Yep, you're right.
I'm going to call them tomorrow and tell them I'm willing to take cancelled appointments etc..but it annoys me that I have to do that-they should be giving me a better appointment.
Anyway, rant over

I do hope that they can get you a cancelation, it's bad that you have to wait for so long.

I am not so bad today ta hun..
I think the specialists should actually know about their waiting lists and actually have a real idea of what they are like...
Best of luck anyway.. Let us know if you have any luck.

Hi Eileen ,What a thing to do , leaving you worrying and in pain for all that time , you must be going out of your mind . I dont know how they can do this to people. Can you not ring and say how much pain you are in, or ask for a cancellation . The trouble is they can blame everything on cuts . Hope you can sort it out ...............jillyxx0

Hiya,
I got good news today! I called hospital to ask about going on a cancellation list and noticed the letter said 'follow up appointment'. The receptionist was very nice and I was fully expecting to be told the usual cr*p but she said it all sounded odd. She phoned me back to say it was a mistake and I've been given an appointment with surgeon on the 18th April-happy!
