Anemia and RA

Ferritin levels have recently plummeted for no decent reason other than suffering from RA so I'm on iron suppliments. Anyone got any suggestions for what I can do to speed up the process of feeling better?

Feel like I've got lead weights attached to my limbs and could sleep for England. Not good when trying to look after a walking (!) and crawling 11 month old!

Up your intake of iron-rich foods, eg watercress, liver etc. DD
Have you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben

    Hi Jenzie

If you have what is known as "anaemia of chronic disease" which is apparently not uncommon with uncontrolled RA then, from my experience, it should improve once the disease is under better control. That was certainly my experience was I was told I had it. I wasn't prescribed iron tabs or given any dietary advice, just told it would eventually settle as the RA got under better control - and it did. My friend has a little one who is just a bit older than Harry and watching how hard she finds it to chase around after him - and she is in good health generally - I can see how hard you must be finding it.

Hope things improve for you soon Jenzie.

    Hi Jen

ah Harry! wearing your Mum out are you??!!

Suggest you eat your meals and drink a glass of fresh orange with it. When l had Lucy my levels went down to 3.6 and apparently it helps you to absorb the iron in your food.

    Love
