Sulfasalazine and annoying cough

not sure whether I should be worried or not. I have been on sulfa for weeks now, thankfully the squealing in my ears seems to have subsided, however I have had a cough for about 2 weeks now and not sure if it is linked to the sulfa. everyone in my house has had larangytis over the last month or so, so i just put it down to that, however now I am concerned it's the meds.
I have looked at the leaflet i got from the hospital which says if it's a "non-productive" cough then to go to dr, but mine is productive(sorry if anyone has just eaten :-) ). i am getting my first set of bloods done tomorrow from the practice nurse but the earliest dr appointment I can get that's suitable (i am on holiday next week) is April 19th.
Has anyone else had the cough with supha and does it sound simimar to mine.
thanks in advance

No, sorry, I have never had a cough on sulph. You say that the family have had laryngitis, I reckon it's related to that. I hope they, and you, get better soon. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Hi Gizmo,
I has a cough on sulfa but mine was dry for a bit then not dry but i also got a lot of reactions till it all gelled into one big reaction.
Its hard to say cus it might be an ordinary cough and not connected to the sulfa but if your worried its an idea to talk to your gp or rumo nurse for a bit of advice. Cris x0 -
Hi Gizmobabe
No harm at all in getting it checked out anyway....remember thes drugs knock your immune system so no harm in getting checked is there?

I have had a very dry throat since starting sulfa and I think this is a common side effect. However as you are new to the drug then as Toni says getting it checked is a good idea.
At least it will put your mind a rest.

Haven't experienced a cough but agree I have had dry mouth & a little sore throat.......
Best side effect for me has been the feeling of total spaciness.....long may that one last!

I spoke with the nurse who said if i still have the cough after 2 months on Sulpha(i have been on it 5 weeks) to see my Dr, however she reckons it's the just the lurgy that's going about just now0
