AV information

Has anyone on here had the booklet about the Alternative Vote? Our local news said that ours should have turned up by now but they haven't. Somehow I am not surprised. I feel this is a governmental sop to the Lib Dems - the vote will be interesting tho - I predict a low turnout as not all areas are dong local elections. Any thoughts? DD

    England is holding a referendum on changing the voting system from first past the post to AV which I believe is a system of multiple votes, ranking candidates in order of preference. That's what it's about and I am waiting for the info about AV. It sounds hugely complicated to me but FPTP is a flawed method in many repsects. DD

    well that makes more sence than the leaflet lol who cares any way there nothing to tell between them all go to same schools so all think the same val

    I didn't know what you meant dd until i read your description of it in a later reply. I heard that they were changing the system too but we havent had anything yet.

    They are not changing it yet, what is happening is a referendum about it so people can vote about whether they WANT to change. You would think with something so imnportant there would be more information floating around than there is at the moment. I still wonder how many will bother turning out to vote. I will, because being franchised is an important and valuable right, but I cannot envisage that the polling stations will be rolling with people. DD
