Hi Everyone . Some may remember I started on Sulfa and then at the end of the second week just before i was to start the 3 a day I started with a rash and other things. I rang and was told to come off the med. I went for the bloods just the same and got them to have a look . Anyway she said i would have to wait until it had gone , it may take a few weeks .
Yesterday afternoon they rang and said i needed more blood doing because of something to do with my white blood cells and asked again if i had stopped taking the med.
I am really wondering what was wrong with my blood , so here I am I bet you clever people will know what it is . How does it affect your white blood cells ? ............jillyx

I think I have this right - sulph can reduce their levels as it has an impact on the immune system. Being immuno-suppressed is one way that they try to stop the immune system firing up and attacking the body but it can have implications if one falls ill as you may not necessarily produce any symptoms. (I am battling that at the moment, well, not battling, I feel OK but my temperature was very high yesterday.) The regular blood tests are meant to show up if there is any problem with the full blood count, white blood cell numbers, and other important things that swim about in the red stuff. I wouldn't worry too much, it sounds like a precautionary thing to me but get the appointment as soon as you can. You have stopped the sulph so I hope the rash has subsided and that you are feeling OK. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Hi Jilly, it sounds as they you are being well looked after, which is good!!
I like to know everything as well, I find it helps me feel more in control. Sounds as though you had a really bad reaction to the sulfa. Lets hope it gets out your system soon!!!
I get the fevers etc with my arfur, its rubbish. Feel like I am coming down with something all the time. Other people just don't get it as we look ok.
I hope you feel better soon x0 -
Thanks suzygirl and juliepf , I will be glad when it is out of my system.....jilly0
