Hi

I had a bit of a down day the other day and still feel fed up with me bod.....
Now its not funny this and i know it seems trivial but hey....Got intertrigo, have had it for over a month, give or take a few days grace and it seems to thrive overnight when i sleep, they feel hot all the time and im just sick n fed up with it now....So i went to see doctor, is wasnt my norma one, she was off on hols....Before i went had tried canesten hc which wasnt working and skin was very scaly n dry,....I thought before going in "i bet she says have i been tested for diabetes cos im overweight".....So in i goes she says its a fungal thing (um yeah i know), pat dry with towel, use cool setting on hairdryer - um yes tried them all.....Im sitting there looking at her and she was same size as me, in fact looked heavier chested....So out comes the question daibetes (give that woman a medal)!!!! Yes i have been tested and i know i look like i should have it plus hbp but hey ho i dont......Then she says have you had the cream called Micanozole...Um no...Then when gets to Asda its good old Daktarin which had she used that name i would have said can i have something else....GRRR!!!!!!!
So in this lovely weather dont want to go out much in heat so not to aggravate stupid thing and dont want to stuff cotton wool, dressings on it as would feel like such a blimp!!! Im fed up, a with this rash and b with th doc for using medical terminology and i aint too dim where thats concerned......I just want rid of it, its getting more attention than i can bear........And this is just the start of the warm waether oh and ive lost weight too so how come im getting this fungal thing with less of me....dont figure???

Sorry for whingeing and for anyone who think bigger hooters are great (im 40d) they are not.....

Elaine, I see that no-one has replied so here goes!

Firstly sorry you are feeling so down.

Don't have the same problems as you - but yes, they do use a different terminology for meds. I'm on leflunamide, (otherwise known as arava) why? Various other meds. I am on (carrier bag full) also carry 2 names - WHY? Then you are expected to reel them off to them when they ask you, I can only remember which day of the week it is by which day I take different meds. (i.e. Monday/Wednesday folic acid, Friday methotrexate)!

Now, real problem - did you 'phone your GP and advise them that you had tried the cream (with 2 aliases) and it didn't work? If not, give it a go and tell them the reason why you hadn't recognised the name. Otherwise what about 'T tree oil' - you have probably tried it but it might be worth a go as it does have antiseptic qualities I believe.

Hope this helps (and that you are also feeling less down)

Hi Elaine. I never saw this thread either. I would go back to GP and say if you told me it was D. instead of M. I would have been able to tell you I have tried it so can you prescribe me another cream, ointment, powder please. She might not like it but it's not your fault. Of course it aint easy to keep dragging off to the docs but I don't think you should wait a few weeks as it will get worse without proper treatment. Actually many years ago I had a nasty rash on my face and used germoline and that cleared it up quickly. Stinks but works. It has antiseptic qualities but don't hear much about it nowadays.

    Hi Ratface

Well sometimes some reply, other times they dont, either way its fine!

Well i guess the point i was trying to make was im no mug with medical terminology so hate it when people speak to me in jargon just to look better etc....Daktarin is no better than emollient cream, very mild...
I have been back to doctors again saying the cream was no good and thank god i have a HC2 form where i dont pay for prescriptions otherwise would have forked out needlessly.....I have Eumovate which may help, i do hope so...This doctor seemed to think it may be my auto immune disease breaking out in new ways however and not fungal...LOVELY!!!

Havent tried tea tree but can bear it in mind..

    Hi Elizabeth

Well i didnt use it for the fortnight she wanted me to use Daktarin for, got another Eumovate and hoepfully that may work...But this doc thinks my auto immune disease is breaking out in new strains so its a guessing game at moment!
I will bear in mind the germoline too, try anything once...Lol!

It could be to do with the auto immune disease. Your skin will be unable to heal very well.
I never see germoline in the shops anymore. i suppose it has changed its name too!
