THR, TKR and resurface-replacements

Hi, there was an news item on TV the other day that said that people were having to wait longer for these ops, and that in some areas until the new financial year. The item also said that orthos were being told to make patients wait until they were much more severe. Having put off my own op on my hip - I paid the price and had a tough job on my hands getting my muscle strength back ... and needed several blocks of physio.
I'm not on the forum as often as I used to be, but there seems to be a lack of posts about people preparing for and recovering from these ops in comparison to this time last year .... so looks like the above is very true.

I have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.

Hi Speedy thankyou for that
Has you know I was told I needed both THR, I do wonder if all these test I am having to see if most of the pain is coming from my back, are stalling tactics.
I really am confused, and dont know who to trust anymore.

Isn't it daft speedalong., the governemnts trying to get everyone off DLA etc and because of the delays in operations more and more people will be on it and probably for longer as the disability/healing time will be longer because of the wait.
None of it makes any sense.
take care

Hi speedy
I heard that on the tv and radio too. It is worrying. I left my hip too long too and feel I would have had a better outcomeif I had had it done 18 months earlier - but that was my own fault for not wanting to be off work.
Let's hope the orthopaedic surgeons kick up a fuss if their trusts try and impose these delauing tactics on them.

Hi Speedy,
I have noticed that as well, TKR's appear to be few and far inbetween this year on the forum.
