Hi Everyyone
Been to see the consultant this morning, well what a palaver.....the thingy they wrote on my discharge papers were wrong....it was an arthroscopy I had...apparently he was looking for loose bone...the was none  anyway he said how is the weight bearing going...it seems I should have been told not to weight bear for a few days...and to use crutches....well no one told me any of this.
What is the NHS coming to , surely this is the basic discharge info...anyway he didnt believe me.
He now want to wait till I see the results of my back MRI, but because it was under a different district, they dont talk to one another , so I have to ask for a copy of the results and go back in 6 weeks.
Dont know whether to laugh or cry.....
Thank you all for your support
Love

    Poor you Barbara
The apathy and disinterest in the NHS really gets me down at times.
Sometimes you feel like they just dont care. Not giving you important info like that is outrageous. And to make things worse the doc doesnt believe you? For goodness sake.

Going back a while ago I had pnuemonia and was in hospital, but it was near my daughters place many miles from my home. The hospital decided to put me on a new diabetes drug and it was working wonders. I also lost a load of weight on it. When i had to go to my GP over here to get it prescribed again, he said he had never heard of it and wasnt going to prescribe it and put me on insulin that made me balloon in size. He also said he had no proof i had this treatment or the pnuemonia as he had no notes regarding it.
I was furious... not only because of his lack of professional knowledge not knowing the drug and secondly accusing me of lying about being in hospital!!

I hope you get things sorted
    Big hugs

    Hi barbara, don't cry...lets laugh together :lol::lol::lol:
now do you feel better :?:

How annoyed you must be....I have that problem too with diferent districts. Why the heck can they not all use one computer and see your results on there.

Last time I went to rhummy I had to fill them in about my mri and ct scan results as the surgeon hadn't sent his report.
I had to tell them that i am due the operation.

Well I hope you get your copy soon , 6 weeks gives them plenty of time.

    Take care

Sorry you have had to go through this Barbara, its a real worry isn't it if these professionals cant communicate with each other - this in a world of fantastic technology of email and the like too - rediculous. Hope that you get it sorted out though.

    Hi Barbara,
Well to be honest is doesn’t surprise me that they have got things mixed up. I am so sorry you now have yet another six weeks of struggling on.
My first hospital lost all my records so I had to go somewhere else and lost vital months before I started treatment.

    Dear Barbara

Why can't the medics liaise with each other in this day and age? I think most of us can probably recall a time when something similar has happened. It is so annoying and wastes such a lot of time for them and for the patient.

    Chin up,

    Love

Hi Barbara, What a frustrating appointment...sorry I'm only finding this now....havent been able to get on line much. After my THR they made an appt for the 2nd one and then 2 weeks before that op they sent me for a MRI incase it was coming from my back. I was then sent to a back specialist....different area/county....guess what ....no MRI results.....they are getting worse

Such good news Barbara. It is also great that you are standing up for yourself more - unfortunately we do have to do that sometimes or we get trodden on. Not our Barbara anymore though.:smile:

    Hi Barbara,

so you went for your results today.

I have to agree with you that this forum has taught me a trick or two about being assertive with getting my own health care on track.

Let us know how you got on today and how the result influence what happens next.

I have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.
