Mind over matter?

I have just read about the research being done at Nottingham University into the way the mind can be tricked into feeling less pain by using an optical illusion. It's interesting how the mind can be tricked in this way, even if the effect is only temporary. How great if in the future we could just look at ourselves in a 'Mirage' box for a while and be pain free, even if only for a short time The research is still in very early stages though, so I'm not sure whether it will work, but it's interesting.

Hello Joan,
yeh, we heard it on the radio coming home yesterday from mablethorpe, and yes it does sound very interersting doesn't it. Maybe if it's not long lasting they can start up clinics for coures fo this. Time will tell, but at least it sounds like they're making break throughs.

H Joan,
I am not at all surprised really cus I know if I can visualize my pain being taken out (I normally use an ice cream scoop) I really go have less pain.....
The mind is so important in helping us in every way so pain control I really do know it can help.... just I am very good at visualization. I really do 'see' the ice cream scoop and the bones...... sounding like a weirdo eh?!
Purrs to Tommy and ((( ))) to you. Cris xx0
