Best of luck with things today John, hopefully you'll get a quick diagnosis & can start treatment a.s.a.p.

    Bit of an update...
I've been back to the doctors on Tuesday told that it was most likely to be RA but my white blood cells where abnormally high so I've had to have another blood test on Tuesday and one next week as well to see if its anything significant. The Doctor was reluctant to start treatment until he could be sure about my blood test results, so at the minute I'm still on declofenac and cocodomol, this seemed to help initially but now I feel as if the pain has levelled out. I understand the docs caution but feel really frustrated at the minute I just want to get better.

I'm still stiff and sore, but I've managed to get about and did two days at work, fortunate that my schools are really supportive and let me plod on at my own pace. Just finding sleeping for more than two hours difficult as I get a lot of pain around my shoulders and collar bone.

Hopefully it will get better and my treatment will start soon.

I hope you get your treatment sorted out soon.

In the meantime, it does sound like your employer is being helpful and supportive. I hope that continues to be the case. A supportive employer and supportive work colleagues can make all the difference.

    Best wishes,
    Kevin.

sorry to hear your story John

i was in my early 20s when PA struck and i was pretty much bed ridden for 6 months - i still managed a 2:1 in History during the early stages of the disease and i eventually found a way to work...........the pain is bad, but nothing compared to YOUR determination and will

    Hi John,

I just thought I'd send a reply as it seems as though I'm in a similar position. I was diagnosed last year at the age of 26. I started with some mild pain for a couple of months then suddenly got struck down and it's been a massive shock, give I did the Great North Run in September with very little trouble, but by the middle of October I could barely walk.

If you ever need a chat or something, just send me a message and I'll be glad to see what advice I could give you.

    Hi John,
I happened to pick up on your sleeping problems......what about diclofenic {which you take anyway} getting a slow release one.....that helped me...When I camer home after a hip operation....I was waking constantly with pain......I was put on diclofenic slow release...take about 9pm and it lasts for 12 hours {instead of your diclo during the day} pain at night is worse because you have nothing to distract you.
    Love
