Hi

I have had a very very painful problem for quite sometime but i am not sure if it is related to the arthritis in my spine or not.
On the lead up to menstruation each month my lower spine (where i have the OA) becomes so incredibly painful at times i cannot stand up.
I have major problems anyway, but at this time it can be unbareable.
I am not sure why this would be or if it is related.
Does anyone else have similar problems? I was crying like a baby this afternoon which is silly for a 48yr old woman!!!

Dotty, May I suggest talking to AC Helpline Team, may be some help with your question there.

    Hi Dot

A lot on here report similar and the surgeon who did my back opp said most women report that to him too.

If you do a search on here then you will see that you are NOT alone.

    Love

PS have you taken your anti inflams? and try some heat??

    Hi Frog

Thanks for that. At least I know what is probably causing it then.
Life is put on hold for several days each month.
Weird thing is my doc has not given me anti inflams. I seem to remember a doc saying they werent right for me because of other medications i take for other health issues, but when i see the surgeon next week i will ask.

    Hi Dotty,

With the ortho next week you might get a bit of decent anti-inflammatory. Maybe if you can't take the tablets you could have the patches bit with luck you will get some help.

Its often the case that we get effected worse each month for a few days but with decent anti-inflammatories maybe you will find it so much easier. I do hope the ortho can and will help you.

What day are we off cus we need to know for the pocket duties. Cris x

Hi, I know how horrible it is having this sort of pain. I suffered from endometrosis from my late teens until I was thirty and had a hystorectomy. Very radical and not always a cure, but it was a change of life in all sorts of ways. No more looking up to see if I'd be well enough to do something or having holidays ruined by pain! The down side is no children and at 55, no grandchildren. Some people might think thats too big a price, but even if I'd not had the op I probably wouldn't have been able to have kids and at least I've had life with a lovely man who has been their all the time, through the op and now arthritis, poor thing!
I hope you find a solution there are lots of drugs to help if its disability and menstration. Take care, love Suexxx

I'm fine now, apart from a cyst caused by the scaring. Ironically they found that a few months back when I was having an MRI for arthritis in the sacro illiac joints! It was all rush over the cyst, referring me to gynea, the chances of of it being malignant (scarred me to death) It's not cancer, thank God. Anyway, they've lost track of the orginal MRI scan on my scro illac joints!!!
Sorry didn't mean to butt in just to lend support from a fellow sufferer, even if it is in the past, now!
