If you are interested in space and the universe, have a look at these wonderful new images posted on the internet by Nasa. Since 2009 the £200million infrared telescope, called the Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer, or WISE, has been scanning the cosmos with the most sophisticated cameras ever deployed in space. The pictures are amazing, and very beautiful.

You can view them by clicking on the thumbnails at the bottom of the screen, or better still, by clicking on the slideshow button. If you view them fullscreen, they are fabulous.

Here's the link- you have to wait for a few seconds for it to load.

    Thanks Joan.

Grabbed number 18 and set it to 'Stretch' then used it as my desktop background. Superb.

Glad you liked them, Joseph  Number 18 is a runaway star apparently. I haven't heard of that before. You live and learn :!:

Another 5 billion years and our sun will start to die, shrink and explode in a finale that will see the end of our 'stellar period' and moving into a cooling period and with it the end of the earth serving us, so get on and enjoy it!

    Nice pix.
