I know this is going to sound really silly, but what are pocket duties.
Can someone explain please.

Hi Karen
It is not a silly question at all, it is a sensible question. I shall let some of the pocket dwellers of which there are many, explain it much better that I possibly could You are not the first to ask and you will not be the last either. When all is revealed you may well wish to become a pocket dweller too. Anyone can be one! More the merrier, in fact, there can never be too many!

Hey there!
Pocket duties are AC forum talk for thinking of someone who is off to the dr's/hospital/other and being with them in spirit to help them through a tough time
Hope this helps!

If l remember rightly Karen, and l may be wrong...but l THINK
Cris skezier invented them for someone a few years back who was v scared of going to an appointment. ( Cris has a range of 'duties' to do for her animals - morning dutes , afternoon duties and sometimes when she is rough ARMCHAIR duties!!!)
Makes you feel less alone especially if you have a not so nice procedure to anticipate.
Hope to bash into you in someone's pocket soon!!
Love

Thank you for explaining 'pocket duties!!' I was to embarassed to ask in case it wasn't any of my business!!
Well I am off to doctors on Friday afternoon for a small operation and I get so nervous because it is'nt a very nice procedure! The doctors have a day procedure unit on the side of it and I go their to have it done. I am going to have a HRT implant put in. It indures 6 local anesthetic injections ( Lignocaine) and then this small implant shot into the bottom side of stomach. Altogether it will take half an hr to 45mins. I know it sounds a silly thing to get nervous about but me and the doctor who does it don't get on (she disagrees with my GP pescribing me M.S.T and any of my pain management dealings) So I feel like a naughty school girl whenever I have to go and have this done. Hence my getting nervous I get nervous about the procedure and nervous about having to confront the GP. So I really could do with a pocket duty? Thank you.0 -

Pocket duties are very important and I am not the slightest bit surprised to learn that skezier invented them. Those who can turn up (admittedly in spirit but the visuals are good, yes?) and we bring food, drink, pets, whatever we need to get us (the supporters) and the you (the recipient) through the appointment. It's a lovely way to let people know that they are not alone in dealing with trickiness of any sort.
Good luck on Friday, bubba, I'l be thinking of you. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0 -

Hi Karen,
It started a long time ago... I said to Wonky in the cafe that I would be in her pocket and it all went from there.
Its nice to not be alone and know the forum folk are there with you, especially when it gets hard and for me it often does....
We are always up for pocketing and they do it better and second to none
Its just nice to not be alone... though they can get a bit rowdy
Hope your ok there and leaving a ((( ))) and assurance we do leave the pockets when we get back Cris x0
