I wondered if anyone else has had this.
On and off for the last month or so I have been getting a swollen left foot, it starts on the outside top of my foot and gradually moves up to my ankle it is a bit painful for a day or two then it will disappear and be fine for a few days or a week then swell up again.
I have RA, OA in my neck and Bursitis and a label tear in my left leg.
I have walked with a stick for a while and the physio gave me fisher crutches last week to use instead which does help ( i forgot to mention my foot to the physio).
I have thought about seeing the dr but by the time i get an appointment the swelling will have gone down.

I just wondered if anyone had any thoughts.

    Hi Tracy
I have OA but has you may no I went for some results yesterday, the lovely nurse helped me to take my sandals off, and noticed my foot was swollen, so I said it has been like that for months, she said you should always get something like this checked out with your GP... well I haven't not yet anyway
But I thought I would tell you what she said....
I hope it goes down soon ,
    Take care

Hi, I've started to get swollen feet, not painful just swollen by night time and they go down with rest. I put mine down to age, and maybe lack of exercise that I used to get as a carer at work! If its one foot, I'd get it checked out in case theirs something going on!

My sister gets swollen feet too and she has compression stockings. Hard to get on, but they do work as her feet and legs became a problem she has venus insuffientcy, whatever that is! Love Sue

    Hi tracey

Hope you get in at the docs and he can give an explaination.

I once went and got a prescription for a compression sock, the chemist did the measurements and ordered me one.

They are tight and no way could I put it on /or take it off oh had to do it for me. But it did keep the swelling down. I don't use it much now, just make sure I rest with feet elevated.

    Hope you get sorted

Hi Tracey, Both my feet and Ankles swell up. It seems to happen in warm weather and sometimes in the winter time it happens. I especially get it on holiday in the heat. It gets to a point when I go on cruises it has nothing to do with the cruise liner or the sea it is in the heat. The swelling gets so uncomfortable it hurts to walk and the only shoes I could wear where open flat shoes like flip flops!! I couldn't wear any shoes like ballet pumps or high heels!
The only time it went down was when I raised my legs above my head! I had to lie down on my bed or sit on the settee with loads of pillows and cushions under my feet.
But I think it would be wise to consult with your G.P or hospital consultant. As they my find a way to get your feet back to correct size!!

    Hi Tracey
I have had similar symptoms to yours, the swelling being most pronounced at the end of the day.The pain would start at the top of the foot and move round to the ankle bone on both sides of the foot. The pain could vary from almost nothing to chronic (often worse when first walking after sitting or getting out of bed).
I had x-rays taken which showed OA,hopefully yours isn't this but if the pain persists perhaps an X-ray would be worth having done.

Barbara, Sue,Julie, Toni, Ron, bubbadog(i love the name) thank you all for you replies it is nice to know i am not the only one if you know what i mean.
Toni i was a very good girl i usually avoid the dr if i can i seem to have a season ticket at the surgery with blood test, injections etc.
I rang the dr's unfortunately i cannot get an appointment with my own gp until 9th May i coud have seen someone else but didn't fancy explaining the Ra and OA and everything else.
My foot is still swollen today but hopefully it will go down again as it has done before.
It will be just my luck that it will be up for ages and then go down the day before i go to the dr's
to be honest it is more uncomfortable than painful.
I will still go to the dr's even if it has gone down as i can hopefully explain it to him.
