Hi guys, I hope you are all well,
Well, I saw the rheumatologist on tuesday and he says i have a trochanteric bursitis in my left hip, so he injected it with a steroid, and now it is starting to feel much better. He said i should go back and see him if no improvement or it comes back. I asked about the other hip and what the xray had shown and blow me down, he contradicted everything my own gp had said to me. The rheumy said there is is nothing there serious enough to worry about (thank god), saying my joints were lovely. any how, I went back to my gp today (21st april) to find out exactly what is going on, she printed out my xray report for me, and it says signs of subchondral sclerosis, narrow joint spacing in right hip, left hip fine. When i asked about this she just said it is how the specialist interprets things and obviously this is different to a gp's . In short she said there's nothing there to worry about and if she were to xray 100 people of my age (41) they would probably have the same.
Confused.....well i am... :???:

Hello!
Glad the steroid helped but sorry you are confused. I would be too I think! Maybe someone else has had this diagnosis and can advise you.

Hi Debs,
Glad the injection seems to be helping and I hope it will quieter down but remember he said to go see him again if it starts up.
I think what the x-ray says is what mind did a few years back or early onset... some narrowing but no actual joint damage beyond that? With luck it will stay there and not change.
As you age things do narrow... but... most people don't have the pain so she was just saying that but I think it unlikely they would have that.... I don't know. I do know I remember being told that by then age (27) most people have either lost or in the process of losing S1/2discs.....
What’s good is they now do both agree that you are ok for now. See how it goes but remember he said to see him again if the jab doesn't work.
Fingers crossed it will and hope apart from this you are ok in your self? Cris x0 -
Morning Debs
I hope the steroid has done the trick and the bursa behaves and causes no more problems.
All in all that sounded a good appointment to me , that everything is ok, no damage to the joints.
Take care
