    hello coco,

yes I get the feet, especially at night and in the morning when they're swollen and red.
Sometimes shooting pains on the inside edge near the big toe.
I usually get up, make a cuppa and take my pain dullers while I have 30 mins on the computor, it gives the pills time to work.
A tens machine with the pads on the top of the feet is supposed to be good for bones
Hope you find some relief soon

    Hi Coco,
Foot pain is awful; I used to have it a lot and did totter in the mornings and when I had been sitting for a while. I have RA so the meds I take have helped a lot. I have insoles and use anti inflam gel when it gets bad. I also found that the hot weather made things worse for me as my feet swelled.
It might be an idea to have a word with your podiatry department to see if they can help you.

You could try the old fashioned soak in salt water, until you can get some help.

    Hi Coco
Im sorry your feet are so painful, I have it in one foot , but touch wood not to bad.
I have a friend that is trained in podiatry, and the one thing she advised was to keep changing the footwear, ie different height shoes, don't keep wearing really flat shoes .
I think your GP should refer you,
Hope you get some relief very soon

When mine get bad I strap them up for a bit of added support but mine are the small bones and they normally settle and leave it as bit before doing it again.

    Foot any better??

I hope so - l have foot trouble too at times but shooting pains are harder to fix aren't they :x

Minky suggested l try a freeze gel stuff you can get from t****o it's ina blue tube and is lovely and cooling. Dont think it can help with shooting pains though

    Hi Coco

Yes, I get these shooting pains in my feet and toes - particularly my big toes - sometimes they make me jump, they are so severe.

However, I started on an anti-tnf drug, Humira, 2 weeks ago and all my joints have improved since then, so in fact my feet have not been too bad over the past 10 days..

I also go to the Podiatry dept at the hospital every 2 weeks and find that really helpful .. I was referred by my rheumatologist,

Hi Coco, im having physio on my feet at the moment. I was refered by the podiatry dept & im also waiting for an appointment for inserts for my shoes.
I have been out & brought some pumps (plimsole type shoes) & they help a little. i have memory foam insoles in my slippers & schol insoles in shoes. Just takes a little pressure off when im walking.

i get the shooting pains in feet & calf muscles. Im doing stretching exercises to try to loosen off the fascitis & tendons in my feet recommended by the physio,.They get really hot, painful & my ankles swell too. Also pins & needles in the bases of feet. Ive been told never to walk with bare feet, im sitting her now with no socks on & just slippers & my ankles are swelling as i sit here
I had trigger point injections into my ankle just over a month ago & thats helped a little with the swelling but not much with the pain.

As Toni says the cooling gel works well to cool off your feet, i use it before bed so my feet are cool & comfy enough to get off to sleep. Warm soaks & soft shoes with insoles are the only advice i can offer you.
I think your gp can refer as mine did to podiatry or physio if you feel you would benefit from that.
Its not nice having poorly feet is it
I hope they ease off for you soon & you get some help.
    take care, debs

I know someone who uses a tens machine for IBS - how strange and over the top is that?!
and Amitryptaline is very good for feet symptoms - was working for me but hasn't been this week - am seeing Doctor on Tuesday though.

    Hi everyone,
thank you so much for your replys, sorry i have been off line for a few days had a wedding to go to this weekend, did to much and suffering now, feet are killing me and swollen but dr has added tramadol to my list of meds.

thankyou for all your surgestions, some i will try but cant use the pain relief gels as allergic to them which is a pity as so many people find them helpful.

Only just seen this post. I had that same problem and was given Amitryptelene (sp?) and it soon sorted out the shock pains, they haven't returned which is wonderful because they didn't half make you jump! ....and squeal
