There seem to be so many greenfly this year. Every time I go outside I come in with a few passengers ............usually just on the back of my neck tickling away where I can't kill the pesky little critters  Grrrr.

They're also all over the washing too when I bring it in.

I live in the Midlands and I wondered if it's like it everywhere or is it just a local thing?

Hold on something's crawling up my leg now ..............

Clouds and clouds of them at the front of the house (lots of sycamores opposite, is that relevant? At least I think they are sycamores) but none at the back (of either sycamores and greenfly). There is summat that defecates on my washing so I don't bother hanging it outside any more. I don't know what form of bug life it is but it is a blasted nuisance! DD

    Hi Coco,

I think we'd call those thunder midges

    Hi DD,

Don't if the sycmores are significant but thought it might be these sunny dry conditions. Glad it's only bug poo on your washing it'd be worse if it was pigeon poo  We have heaps of that round here as well as the greenfly

So I've got fleas now Fay    well all I can say is that if they're drinking my blood I hope they get arthritis.

D'you reckon we're in for a storm then Jilly? - it should dampen down the greenfly if we get one.

Thunder flies, not seen any of those, but greenfly have laid siege to the hawthorne hedging, needless to say Matron was not happy and OH was out, zapping them. They seem very early this year, with the recent hot weather.
Blackfly will be here as soon as we plant out the Nasturtiums - they love em.
Fleas, oh no, we don't want them, good job our cats are house cats, might get some frontline, just in case some hop in, horrid nasty things.

Haven't seen any in West London/Middlesex but then I'm not very observant.
