Newly diagnosed

Hello,
I have just been diagnosed today with psoriatic arthritis. I have mixed feelings at the moment. I'm relieved I have an explanation at last for what's been going on for years. I'm also grateful to the physio who took one look at me and phoned my GP to say I should be sent to another rhuematologist for a second opinion. Thanks to her, at least I now know the cause of my problems. I guess I'm also feeling a bit uncertain about what to expect. I thought it might be good to speak to some people in the same boat.

Hi Lyndi
Just seen you there and wanted to say welcome, though I am sorry you have joined this particular boat. I am sure as you say you have mixed feelings at the moment. Although I can't help with the PA I do know people here who can and am sure they will be along to help with any questions you have when they see you.
Sounds like you have a good rheumatologist and have joined this forum and both are positives so well done. You might also find it helps to phone the helpline here for advise and support too, they are not medically qualified but are literally in the same boat with us so make good listeners and can point you in the right direction when things are all so new and scary.
Keep in touch and take care.
best wishes

Hi Lyndi,
Welcome to the forum. I am sorry that you have had such a shock with the PA diagnoses. I know what you mean about being grateful that you have answers at last. Nevertheless it will be difficult for you to take everything in. There are a few on here with PA and I am sure they will be along soon. I have RA so a lot of the meds are the same as yours.
One thing though keep to the official sites when doing research, there is a lot of scary stuff out there. I wish I had had that advice when I first started. Like Chris7 has said the help line team are a great lot to have a natter too and will help to point you to the relevant AC information.
Please keep posting and let us know how things are going for you.

Hi Lyndi
Good to meet you
I have seroneg athritis of which PA is one and like Ironic says the meds are likley to be the same.
You have found the best site to help you get your head around it all Lyndi...this is such a shocking time, full of mixed and scary emotions and thoughts and fears.
I know l bawled for at least a week, but like you it IS a releif that there IS something wrong and l am not just imagining it.
You may have read scary stuff on the internet, but thios is really a better place for information gathering as there is no scaregmongering on here or silly 'cures' being sold to us.
You take care
Love
