I think I'm rapidly turning into Victoria Meldrew :!:
A so-called artist has been paid thousands of pounds by Derbyshire Art Fund and Derbyshire County Council to take photographs of motorway signs on the M1. He has turned the photos into 45,000 postcards to be given out free at Tibshelf Service area
( Don't all rush at once :!: Just what you always wanted on a long journey  )
Mr Smith ( the artist ) said the project examines what he calls the "non-place" of the motorway, where visual stimuli are "pared down to the bare minimum – the grey of the concrete, the white of the road markings as they zip by underneath you, the green of the grass verge and the droning pitch of tyres on tarmac".
Yes...........right
I'm now submitting my photos of the Emperor's new clothes for consideration.

It's good isn't it?? When they're cutting back on funding for the emergency services and other vital stuff, at least we can rest in the knowledge that we have lots of pictures of the signs on our motorways - no sorry, correction, POSTCARDS of the signs on our motorways!
I'm off to open another bottle of wine!

Such waste never ceased to amaze. Truly it doesn't. It used to, well, it still does make me so mad when you read of what money is wasted on quango's and diversity officers and other such drivel, costing millions and they still want to close hospitals and cut vital services, police, medical and nursing staff - Fuming. I did see something about the art prize, going to some lady who had strung a rubber sheet up on what looked like 4 pegs   I am going to take a picture of my knickers on the airer and see if I can get a huge lottery grant, watch this space. :x :xXX Aidan (still known as Bubbles).0

Hi folks, and thank you for your replies. There's some great ideas for future works of art on here: zebra crossings, drain covers, telegraph poles, and even Bubbles' knickers :!: I reckon we could win the Turner Prize between us, no trouble at all

Yeah, and I got a good price for them.
Unfortunately I'm not entitled to any benefits (not being here illegally) and got to pay for my future care home costs somehow.''Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy''. Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790)0 -
Prefabkid, you should have just stacked them up in a pile, called them an installation, and thought up a good title eg. 'The Drain On My Resources' Someone would have paid you millions for them :P
