MTX and travelling...

Hello all!

I hope that you are bumbling along well at the moment. I'm seeing The Man tomorrow - hopefully he'll be pleased with me, it seems like the meds have kicked in at last... this is a very, very good thing! Still have the aches and pains but I'm not bed-ridden and can keep up with people who walk briskly - hurrah.

Anyways, it's looking like I *may* have to go abroad for a few months with a job, to different countries in Europe... so my question is, how easy is it to take up to 3 months worth of meds abroad? I've done it before before I was diagnosed with RA so haven't taken mtx or the other 3 tablets I'm on. Any hints will be gratefully recieved. I'll be talking to the rheumy nurses as well as I know that the mtx has to be taken in hand luggage to a letter will be needed to stop me going to the airport jail...   :P

xx

**Oh yes, sorry, I am injecting mtx weekly as tablets didn't work for me. So it's needles I need to take, not tablets.**

Alarkra, you don't say whether your meth is tablets or syringes. I've never done syringes and only done 1 month at a time but I've never had a problem with USA. You may find elsewhere you need to show a prescription. I take meth plus several other bits & pieces.

I didn't know you were supposed to take everything as hand baggage. I always ensure I have at least an extra week's worth in hand baggage in case the hold baggage goes awol.
If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

I just went away to Hungary with work for a couple of weeks, had no idea I was supposed to carry MTX in hand luggage & have a letter?! :???:

... so as far as my experiences go, I'm sure you'll be fine ;)

    Hi Stickywicket,

Oops, I have amended my post, forgot I missed that important point out! I inject so I think I have to take it in my hand luggage because they are needles... tricky if one is going away for sometime!

    Hey Miss Kat,

Did you take tablets or needles? I hope that you had a good time on your trip - were you flare free?

Maybe you should check with your airlines. In the normal way of things all 'sharps' need to go in hold baggage though, obviously, if you need to inject on board, you'd need one in hand (plus a doctor's note, I think).
