Not what you want to hear

I had to have a minor op. today, and there were two nurses assisting the doctor. While I was being operated on, one nurse said to the other, ''It's that time of the month again, and it always makes me clumsy, dropping things and bumping into things''. The other one said,''Oh yes, I know what you mean. I'm just like that too''.
Not the ideal conversation to hear in an operating theatre when you are the patient and the same nurse is just about to sew you up

Oh Joan that is funny! And so NOT what you want to hear!
I hope you are recovering well Maybe you should run a magnet over the site of you op just to be sure!
A few years ago while living in the UK I had my second malignant melanoma removed. The dermatologist said to another doctor how much Australians overreact about getting moles and freckles checked!!
Hmmm...

Thanks all for your replies.
Luckily, I'm still in one piece, despite the comments of the two nurses with PMT  I laughed about it, but afterwards it did strike me as inappropriate in the circumstances. I should have asked them whether it always caused them to behave so unprofessionally too :roll:0 -
Hi Joan, I am so glad that things went ok, despite the nurses little chit chat.
Matron would not have been best pleased. I know we had a good natter and gossip, but when dealing with a patients, that was the concern and the time, not the time of the month and how clumsy they both were.
I do remember in theatre, the surgeon said "oops" - "WHAT do you mean OOPS"? Liver sutures please. Dont OOOPS again please, it is not good for my equipoise. Thankfully the patient was fine. Huge sigh in theatreXX Aidan (still known as Bubbles).0 -
