Got up this morning to find a 5 ft big scratch where someone had " keye'd"
three panels on the side of my motorbility car.
Can anyone tell me how I stand with the insurance, because although I'm no expert on this, over 3 panels, a spray job would come to god only knows how much.
Anyone been in this situation before, thanks Alanthemanc

What about paying the first £300 quid, I seem to remember they want it if you make a claim.

Toni is right. i think Mike had to pay £100 when he bumped his rear end(!)I think you might lose your good condition bonus(but they keep changing the rules so I may be wrong).

Think the excess is hundred quid now rkid..
Thing is, it's up to you if you get it done, how bad is it? Is it right through the paint work? Might be worth leaving until time to return the car, that way if you do decide to get it done if there's any more damage in the same place you can get it all done in one go.
If you're in doubt though have a word with the disability person at the dealership where the car is from... It's a swine eh? I've had it three times now, each time was before the rules changed and I lost my good condition bonus because I'd claimed on each (three separate cars)...
Now though, even if you've made a claim you can still be eligible for the bonus.. It is always discretionary though...
I certainly know how annoyed you must be though rkid.. I was bloody fuming each time.. All of my cars have been very well looked after. Even on the last one I had damage but it was classed as wear and tear, even though some idiot had booted a huge dent in the passenger door at three in the morning coming down the street rat ar5ed..

Right.. Better stop rambling on, by the time I've finished you'll have signed up for your next vehicle

Best of luck mate, pm me if you've any questions etc.

    Tony/ Del.
Just rung Sun Alliance up. Very nice guy took the details, then told me he would write to Motorbility, who will contact me in about a weeks time.
He also said it would probably be up to me if I wanted to get it done (£75 ), but Motorbility might say because it's "cosmetic damage", to leave it until it's sold at auction in 2 years time.
It does look awful though, a big scratch down the side of a new car, b....ards. Alanthemanc

Yes, it should be done by an approved Motability dealer. You must notify Motability, but remember by making a claim you lose out on the £200 they give you if you return it in good condition and without any claims.
So, when the approved dealer inspects the car ask how much it's going to cost. If it's a matter of a lot less than £200 then you are better off paying without making a claim.
Sometimes, with key scratches it could mean just rubbing down and a respray.
I parked my last car on the first day I had it brand new, in our Library car park underneath some trees. On returning I saw some squirrels on the bonnet and shooed them away. Needless to say, the bonnnet was scratched all over. I rang Motability and explained, they sent their approved agent to me who said it would cost £90. It took just one day and I paid myself. When I returned the car I got my £200 as normal.

Nice one Alan.. I know it looks awful but at least now you know the options..

Ron, the rules have now changed rkid.. Even if you have made a claim you can still be eligible for the good condition bonus. Wish it had been that way for the three of mine that I ended up claiming on because of idiots :x :x all three cost me my excess & bonus :x :x

Tony/ the others/, thanks for your help today . I , like you, was trying to keep this car in as good a condition as I could. Needless to say, if I ever catch the clown who has done this, he is in serious trouble, and I really mean that, he's a dead man walking. Thanks again. Alanthemanc

Hi , sorry to hear that some idiot has damged your car , I only had mine a month and banged the rear end into my fence , the bumper was dented and some of the panel was also dented , rang rsa told them about what happened they said at first no need for the repair until I told them the bumper was split they changed their mind and said right someone could claim if they cut them selfs so they phoned garage up and car was took away to be fixed they told me to pay the first £100.00 of the claim
now the car took near a month to be fixed rsa said there is a curosity car (but I never asked for it still learing to drive ) oh forgot to say they(RSA) sent an accerosar he spent an hour asking questions , asked the way it happened , when he heared he lauged and said everything is ok

as long as there is no sharp bits showing maybe its best to leave it until you trade it in
