Been away from the site for too long and have so many questions I need answers to. It's now 3yrs since I had my hip replaced and 2yrs for my TKR. I was asked the other day by a fellow TKR friend who is only 6weeks into having it done. She asked me when does the pain go away I couldn't answer I still have quite a painfull knee I do take pain relief have taken it since I had it done. The doctor said she can't give me anymore pain relief. I get the message put up and shut up. I now have a problem with my hip of the same leg that too needs replacing. Any comments would be appreciated Thanks

    Hi
Just a thought have you had your TKR x rayed just to make sure it is has it should be, these things can go wrong, its no wonder your hip is aching it will be down to you limping.
If I was you I would ask then to checked it out, you may need a revision

    Hi Wendy,

I haven't had a replacement but have had joints removed and fused and they take a long time but this doesn't really sound too right to me.....

It could be deferred pain but I would try digging in and making them explain to you how and why you have so much pain as you might need a revision but equally it could be deferred from the back......

Have you re-seem your ortho? that might help? hang in there but make them actually explain why and how you have so much pain... I think thats a place to start and fingers crossed and nice to see you again. Cris x

    Hi Wendy

Welcome back. I think there is a bit of confusion here as to which leg has had the THR and which the TKR? :???: I read your post as them being different? Or am I being a bit thick which is highly likely! I am assuming the still painful TKR leg is the one which has not yet had a THR but may now need one? Sorry if I am mudding the waters here.
I need both my hips doing at some point, or so I am told  but find in both legs the deferred knee pain in the evening is the worst. My Consultant says that the knees should improve once the hips are done so if I read your thread correctly a second THR may help the still poorly knee.
Hope you can make some sense of all this, I know what I mean but may have just confused the issue further. Either way yes do keep pestering for more x rays or scans and I hope you find something to help soon.
    take care
    Chris

I had a THR in my right leg and a TKR in my left leg you read it right it's the left leg hip that needs doing now it didn't occur to me that my hip could be causing extra pain in my knee you live and learn thanks for the replies
