    Hi Michelle

I'm afraid I can't offer any advice either - you seem to be 'ahead' of most people with regards to these kind of operations!

Hope it goes OK and please keep in touch .as I'm sure other people will be heading down the toe surgery route sooner or later (me probably being one of them!)

    Hi Michelle,
Yes good in one way as you don’t have long to wait until it is done. Still enough time to get very nervous though.
Of course it brings back the memories of your wrist operation and you must tell them of your worries. Good luck for Friday and I hope that they can reassure you.
I hope your mum’s appointment goes ok , you have a lot going on at the moment. Try and rest up as much as you can this weekend.
    Hugs,
    I x

It's less time to fret, lavenderlady, that has to be a bonus. I know you have a deal on your plate at the moment with both your health and the illness of your mum, but the next round of surgery can only be a good thing as it will help you. I wish you well for tomorrow and next Wednesday, I hope all goes smoothly and that you will soon be in less pain than at present. DD

    Hi Michelle,

Well after all that waiting, suddenly things are moving very fast indeed! I don't know anything about your op, looks like you are going to have to be the forum pioneer and expert in this one. I wonder why you can't have a block and sedative for this op, same as your wrist? Is it a different surgeon and up to the surgeon's preference? Have you asked why?

What caused the huge the blisters on your wrist? Was it the dressing? I'm allergic to lots of different dressings and when I had my first hip operation I told them all the known dressings I was allergic to. I'd never heard of or had mefix used on me so didn't mention that one ... ended up with massive blisters - ugh revolting. Really emphasised this before going into surgery second time round and thankfully they used opsite this time round and I was fine. Had to re-emphasise re my allergy at each dressing change mind you ....

If you focus on all the planning and prep for post op, you wont have that much time left for nerves. Keep us posted.

Michelle just wishing you all the best hope you mum's appointment went ok.
I would rather have less time to worry, it's good that you will be out the same day.
I am like speedy i react really badly to most sticky dressings. you do need to let them know that you had a bad reaction last time if you haven't already.

You have an awful lot on your plate, Lavenderlady. Please make sure your own needs are taken care of before you go rushing in to help others. You'll be much more use to them if you first get your body working as well as it possibly can. I do hope all goes well.

As has been said, you do have a lot going on at the moment and I am sorry.

I wish you well on Wednesday. I had three toes dealt with 6 weeks ago but not the same op as you. I was going to be a day case but stayed overnight and I am glad this was offered as I was able to stay in bed and not put the foot down at all ie when needing the loo. (used a commode - keeping leg on bed and using the other leg to get to sit on it!). I only needed to take painkillers for three days. The foot is still rather swollen/red as soon as I stand on it and could only get a pair of sandals on three days ago, had to use the "boot" they provided for me. I used crutches for a few days. I was told to rest for the first week or so as much as possible with leg raised.

It is good that you will be "done" early. This will give you a chance to rest in the hospital bed, hopefully for a good few hours.

I do hope all goes well for you and that you do not overdo things too much by helping your parents, easier said than done I know.

    Elna x

thanks for advice as far as i know I will only be a day case, much happier in my own bed lol, got a stack of books ready to read , am def going to be resting it a lot. after having an infection in my wrist only finished the anti biotics end of Jan, so need to make sure thats not going to happen again,
am taking Daughter to see JLS and Olly Murs on 17th June so hope it will be ok by then its a standing show no seats just have to stand at the back of everyone else and watch it on screen,
am off to restock my medicine cupboard before going in and being house bound I take around 27 tablets a day and insulin so need to make sure got plenty before the op,
I'm the only daughter so need to help mum out not really got any choice but will take my own ill health into consideration
Elna nice to see you are getting better and only needed pain relief for 3 days, being the tough old boot that I am I only took one dose of morphine after my wrist op and promptly threw it all back up, so wont be trying that again,
hope I can get my sandles back on quicker then you Elna lol I wear hotters that have velcro so will have to extend the straps to the limit, lol thanks michelle

How great that you are going to see jls and olly murrs, I have both of their albums and I am sure you will have a great time. (perhaps you could take a seat-stick so you could sit some of the time)
