Hi
Sorry i haven`t been on for a while , but we moved house last week and have been without internet.
I hope everyone is as good as they can be xxx
I am going to see the Consultant tomorrow to see whether he thinks my physio has helped my hips. I was doing quite well until last week and my THR hip locked at work. Ouch! and it has been a pain literally since! My other hip is getting a bit worse arthur wise, pain and stiffness etc.. And all this makes my back play up
I am due to start hydro in a couple of weeks for my hips. I`m looking forward to that.
But , a stupid thing just happened. I got my foot caught in a wire/flex and fell on the floor. I have hurt my big toe and my hip is hurting too. My hubby wants me to go to A&E but I really don`t want to. I`ll see how I go.
Take care, and if anyone is ok for pocketduty tomorrow, you are very welcome x
NB

Good luck for tomorrow, NB, I am alas on holiday so cannot guarantee to pitch up at the right time and in the right place. I hope you get on OK, as for the fall etc your OH may be right but what the hell, you are seeing someone tomorrow so you can check with them, yes? Take care and let us know how you get on, if you can. DD

    Hi NB,
I hope you are feeling settled in your new home. I’m sure you have had such a busy time trying to put everything in some sort of order. You must be shattered.
I hope the toe and hip have eased off a bit. Definitely ouch there.
Good luck with your appointment tomorrow and I will be there in your pocket. (not the one with the smelly cheese though)!

    Hi NB

Been wondering how things were going, you have been busy with work and the move.
Sorry today has ended badly and hope you are ok after the fall. Does sound like you needed to get to Casualty to be checked over? I will be keeping my fingers crossed for you tonight.
If all is well I will be in a pocket tomorrow and hoping it goes well for you.
Glad you have you hydro appointments soon they really did help my hips to keep mobile and I was so sorry when my allotted time was up!
take care, keep in touch when you can

    Hi everyone
None of you were late for pocket duty as my appointment wasn`t til 3 and was running a bit late anyway.
I saw the Registrar today, who has been in with the consultant for my last 3 consutations. He was very thorough, and very easy to talk to. He didn`t think i had done any serious damage and advised rest and to be a bit more careful in future !! He thinks the hydro will be helpful. I told him about the hip `locking` last week and he said it sounded like muscle spasms, which I suspect too. He isn`t sure why my hip is still painful in the groin/cup area of my THR, and said to keep taking the painkillers and hope the hydro/physio helps that. We discussed my other hip, and he said my last X ray showed some arthur but not as bad as my other was preop. He says most of my pain is from the dysplasia in my hip which won`t resolve without surgery. I said no thanks!! (well not at the moment anyway!)
I also asked about pain relief and he was happy with what I was on, unless I wanted to go back on the opiates, which i don`t, so, carry on as before I suppose. I am to go back again in 6 months, but he said to contact them before if things got worse before then.
So I`m home again. And off to take some pills to ward off the inevitable pain of post examination by the docs!!
Take care all and thanks for your support (again xx)

    Hi NB

Thanks for the update and glad you doing okish there, though muscle spasms are certainly not nice, you have my sympathy on that one!
Hope you are not feeling too pulled about and even more sore and that you managed a good nights kip tonight to recover.
    take care

Hi NB, no wonder you are struggling at the house moves are a physical struggle and an emotional upheaval, hopefully now you are in your new home things will ease up

Falls DO hurt as they jolt everything, you tense up and get bruising - hope the symptoms don't last too long.

I used to have the one THR and the other hip dysplaxic ... so can identify with your situation. If your THR has been sore, you will be relying more on the dysplaxic hip which will make it feel more sore.

Hope meds, some extra rest and the future hydro help.

    Speedy

PS makes me laugh when they tell us to more careful ... we don't choose to fall over!!!
I have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.
