Hateful disease, you poor thing. Go to bed now and rest. When your friends come have takeaway and alcohol ....

I have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.

Join the club !! Just come back from the dentist and thought I would have a very rare walk around the shops as I was in town ( unless I have a reason to go I cannot work up the energy to even think about it) Had a half hour walk before my husband picked me up, bought nothing but so very glad to be home. I do envy other people who can stroll from shop to shop almost every day - to me and I`m sure many like me, it`s a major event.

Oh theresa I am sorry that you are having such a hard time at the moment. I hope you can rest as much as possible before your friends arrive. I agree with speedy, perhaps a takeaway would be a good Idea and don't be afraid to ask for help.
I hope you feel better tomorrow (fingers crossed for you)

    Take care

Theresa Im so sorry you are tired and in pain, arthur really is a swine,I have OA, but gosh do I know what you mean, I wake up tired, what I am trying to say we do understand , so you can rant away and we will listen.
Just getting it off your chest can help.
I really do hope that you feel better when your friends come, but if you dont, make sure they know, then hopefully they wont expect you to be running around after them.
    Take care

    Hello Theresa

So sorry you are struggling so much with your outrageous fatigue. I think that Speedy's comment "hateful disease" sums it up beautifully (not that beautifully is the right word but you know what I mean). As you say, when the RA fatigue gets hold, it is out of all proportion to anything you might have done and it can be truly dreadful. Feeling as if you can't cope and wanting to cry are perfectly understandable in the circumstances.

I don't know what I can say to help - other than that I am thinking of you and I do understand.

Thankyou all for your lovely posts. I feel a little better today still tired but I have to get on with it. We have no food in the house milk etc.. so must go shopping somehow as my hubby has meetings on and off all morning then our friends will be here at 3 ish.
They are great friends who know about my RA he has osteo arthritis in his feet and has been having a rough time himself as his hands are kicking off now. We dont get together very often but they are the type of friends you can just relax with so it should be an enjoyable weekend.

Thinking M&S meal deal might be a good idea and its only up the road plus wine mmmmm.

    Love to all

    Hi Theresa

That is great that you feel a little better today. M&S Dine in meals are superduper. My daughter raves about them. I actually bought one yesterday and we shall enjoy that tonight. It did cross my mind at the time, as to what an easy way to have people over to dinner, with the minumum of fuss and hard work!

Hope you have a lovely weekend.

    Hi Theresa
I am so glad you are feeling a little better, I do love to cook, but I must say when people come round I am a great fan of some of these prepared meals.
You take care, and enjoy having your friends round.

Well what a great start to the day. My ankles have been sore I went to M&S very pleased with my 3 meal deals after checking there was no limit on how many you could buy (apparently no limit) loaded the car not realising just how much I needed the trolley, I fell and struggled to get up while people just watched I had to stand by my car hanging onto it for a few minutes til my feet felt stable to get in the car. I felt so embarrassed and angry noone even asked if I was ok or offered help. Im just sat here at home now crying I hate being so helpless and the embarrassment of falling over its bad enough having a limp at 39.

I am glad you saw your friends and enjoyed yourself - having company can help to take our minds off our woes and shift our focus onto something/someone else. It does seem unfair that for us everything can be a major effort whilst others swan along, no pain or difficulty then have the temerity to moan that they feel 'tired' or they 'lack energy.' The trouble is they do, but their tiredness etc is just a blip: ours isn't.

I wonder what it must be like to wake refreshed, with plans and schemes to execute and the fizz to do just that? It must be nice. Never mind, that luxury is for others so I shall continue to plod, nice and steady, and to do what I can. It may not be enough in the eyes of some, but as long as I achieve something every day then I am satisfied. The good things are there, it just takes a bit of skill sometimes to spot them. Take care and keep as well as you can. DD
